Has anyone else's toddler lost the plot since you got pregnant again?

About to lose my sanity. 18mo DD has always been high needs but the last month or so since we found out I'm pregnant, her behaviour has just been something else. A new level of fussy eating, tantrums all day everyday to the point that we can't leave home on time for anything because she refuses to let me change her nappy, CONSTANTLY asking to breastfeed and totally losing it if I say no...the list goes on. This may sound crazy but I wonder if she's being affected by hormones in my breast milk? I say this because (apologies TMI) I suffer from terrible constipation with pregnancy, and the last 3 weeks DD has been suffering too!

Please someone tell me it gets better? I feel terrible losing my cool with her. Between the fatigue and constant sickness I'm really struggling to cope with her behaviour.

Hi OP,

My toddler DD is 18 months as well and has just recently seemed to develop new challenging behaviours as well. I'm 16 weeks with (all being well hopefully) our second.

I think this is a period of incredible development and vocalising feelings yet not being able to communicate them properly yet, as well a time where they are testing boundaries.

I certainly know how you feel when it comes to not being able to leave the house on time and a lot of things being difficult right now.

For instance my DD will get very upset if someone takes something off her that she's gotten a hold of, throw things on the floor when upset about something, lots of throwing herself on the floor and angry tears when it's not going the way she has imagined.

It's harder when pregnant as you're tired and I've just had to rely on my DP more to step in and give more support, in case that's an option for you too.

Good luck with your pregnancy and congratulations!

@LASandOtto thanks for the solidarity. Yes definitely leaning more on my DH at the moment, he's been super but I guess I struggle when he's at work. Just feel like I should be doing so much better than I am. Thankfully my mum is in town soon so I should have a little more help and I'm sure DD will be fine with her as I'm the only one she behaves this way with!

Congrats on your pregnancy too, hope it all goes smoothly for you :)

My DD was like this at that age and I wasn't pregnant. Think that's just toddlers! Must be extra exhausting for you though Thanks
