NHS Dating Scan

Hi!
I’ve received my dating scan through for when I’m 14+4. Isn’t this late? I can’t actually make the day they’ve given either as I arranged childcare only between weeks 12-14 as I thought that’s when it would be. They’ve had my referral for over 4 weeks, my booking in appointment is in 2 days when I’m 11+2. Will they change it or will I have a fight on my hands?

You're just on the last day there for the NT screening if you wanted to have that. I think they're running behind at the mo as I was given a scan on the same date but I was lucky I'm under a consultant who had it moved for me.

No harm in you ringing and explaining why you need it to be earlier but you might struggle...

Ask to be put on a cancellation list. Or call every morning at 8 for cancellations.

Bettybird · 03/04/2022 11:56

Yeah I want the screening and I'm uncomfortable with it being right on the cutoff as well. Everything I read says 13+6!

I thought the last day for combined screening was 13+6? I had mine recently at 13+5 for this reason, and booking appt afterwards because they were so short staffed.

That’s what I thought too. I had my first baby at the height of Covid so used to delays and cancellations but this time round I expected different 🤷🏼‍♀️

The last day for screening is 13+6. It's really likely they will change the scan at your booking appointment (this happened to me and I didn't have to fight I just mentioned it and straight away midwife rearranged).

Hiddenvoice · 03/04/2022 18:02

Mention it to your midwife and see if they will help to change it.

I wasn't sure of my dates and told them St my telephone booking appointment, I then got my nuchal scan date for when worst case id be 13wks 6 days. When I had my f2f booking for history etc at 11 weeks I told her this. Midwife said it wasn't good enough went off and came back with a revised scan date. Apparently I should have been offered a dating scan as I had told them I was unsure of dates. At this scan they said I would be 13wks 3 days at nuchal they would pass that on to fetal medicine to make the assessment if that was going to be OK and they would call with a revised appointment if necessary.

I would call the scan department and explain and if you don't get anywhere definately say to midwife at booking appointment I would imagine they will get it revised for you.

Called the scan department this morning and they were adamant that those dates were fine according to a scan I had at the EPU at 8 weeks, and that’s what they use - not my LMP. They have me down as 13.5 on that day, so I think it’s cutting it fine. The nurse I spoke to in the EPU said they’d use my last LMP for the dating scan as measurements are so difficult then they can be up to a week out. It’s frustrating as I know that my dates are more towards my LMP but I was dismissed 🤷🏼‍♀️

@Bettybird speak to the midwife at your booking appointment.
