Hi all,

I'm seven weeks pregnant and I've been getting this discharge on and off for a few weeks it's sometimes spotting in my underwear or it's like this when I wipe (see below) I had a scan on Thursday and baby seemed fine but I didn't have anything like this with my first baby and it's just worrying .. thank you for taking the time to look at this, I can't really ask anyone in real life as no one knows.

Thank you

I'm just worried about a miscarriage and I'm not sure what's normal and what's not

Hi are you on cyclogest suppositories?

I had the same spotting from week 8-16, it was about 3-4 days a week and the consultant said it’s one of the side effects of cyclogest. He also said it’s old blood so not to worry about it. I had a scan around week 8-9 which also showed a very small haematoma, did they check for that when you had the scan?

I’m week 32 now.

I'm not on anything no. The scan didn't show anything concerning baby had a heartbeat but the nurse said I had a Bicornuate uterus but didn't say I needed to be worried about anything but I googled it and it's connected with miscarriages etc so now I've scared myself and I've been having this since the beginning.

Thank you for replying though, eight weeks to go and you'll have your lovely baby Daffodil

Hello @worriedaboutittoday 💕 I have been having this on and off too (currently at 8 1/2 weeks) and it led to a bleed and blood clot type thing when I was at 7 weeks. Had an early scan at the EPU and they confirmed all okay and nothing to worry about, they couldn’t see the cause and said sometimes these things happen and to only get back in touch if the blood is fresh. I have managed to not worry so much since the scan and seeing a little heartbeat, apparently the risk of miscarriage decreases dramatically at week 7/8 (not sure how true but I’m holding on to stats like this!) especially when you’ve seen a heartbeat. Really hope you’re okay and it eases up soon!

K2012 · 03/04/2022 08:25

Hi @worriedaboutittoday yes 8 weeks left ❤️

Can you contact your community midwife or EPU for a scan?

So exciting x

I had a scan on Thursday and everything was fine and they said to only contact them if it became heavy so I think it's a sit tight and wait and see hopefully everything's okay but that's why I thought I'd ask here in case anyone else had it and had a successful pregnancy. It's so worrying

I had this in my second pregnancy and spoke to the MW who said it's only a concern if it's fresh red blood.

Hi!

Thank you for sharing that makes me feel so much better, I know it's been scary for you especially with the clots gosh but I'm glad little baby bean is okay. My scan showed nothing to worry about and just a little heartbeat so hopefully both our little baby beans stay where they are nice and comfy and we have them late October/November. Congratulations x

So as long as it stays brown then there's nothing to worry about?

How long did it last if you don't mind me asking? This is my second pregnancy too and I didn't get it my first so didn't know if it was normal or not x

CaMePlaitPas · 03/04/2022 10:47

I had this, same quantities too, with my first pregnancy. Was scared shitless, turns out it is very normal. It wasn't coming from the pregnancy but from old, oxygenated blood around the cervix. Have you been checked for BV? They swabbed me and I need antibiotics.

Check with your midwife but if it isn't bright red you should be OK x

Wishihadanalgorithm · 03/04/2022 10:50

I had this right at the start of my pregnancy. I went to the EPU and they said everything was ok. DD is now 8 years old. I was also told if the blood is fresh, then you worry. This old blood is nothing to stress over.

Good luck, OP.

womaniswomaniswoman · 03/04/2022 11:38

I can't honestly remember, I'm sorry. Days rather than weeks I'm sure.

Moonshine160 · 03/04/2022 11:52

It’s such an anxious time isn’t it? I’m now 15 weeks pregnant and I’ve had spotting and discharge from 7 weeks. It’s ranged from pink to brown to rusty orange. All is ok with baby and the spotting is unfortunately unexplained. It’s my second pregnancy and I didn’t have this with my first! As others have said I would just keep an eye on it and try not to get too concerned unless it’s accompanied by cramps and/or red fresh looking blood. To me yours looks like old blood. If it continues though definitely push to get it checked.

worriedaboutittoday · 04/04/2022 20:16

Sorry about another gross picture but this is what I'm getting today, is this the start of a miscarriage? Sad

Hope you're ok!💗

There's no more blood.

They won't see me SadI have to monitor for 48 hours and if it stays the same call then. So worrying x

OP posts:
Sleepy86 · 05/04/2022 09:22

@worriedaboutittoday is it EPU that won't see you? Could you get an appointment with your GP for them to check and refer you? I had a small amount of bleeding early in pregnancy, saw my GP who checked my cervix was closed and referred me to EPU for a scan. I'm 18 weeks today, so please don't lose hope yet, it can be lots of things other than miscarriage x

Sho97 · 05/04/2022 16:51

@worriedaboutittoday
Weird that it just comes and goes, I'd still request to be seen after the 48 hours though. The least they can do is give you a scan for peace of mind, especially as it was red x

I know, that's so confusing after last nights bleed I haven't had anything today no blood, no brown discharge just a normal wee. I'm gonna ask them tomorrow if they don't mind having a look, I don't want a scan per day (although it is nice to see baby) I just want to know if everyone's okay.

Sho97 · 05/04/2022 17:59

@worriedaboutittoday
I think because you're early the only way to tell if everything's ok would be a scan, although I could be wrong.
Are you having any cramps or anything? X

I'm not sure, they're only offering an internal exam if I went up to epau but I haven't got any pain just the bleed now x

Suzi888 · 05/04/2022 18:11

I did have some fresh blood like a period, bright red. I didn’t know I was pregnant at the time as wasn’t trying so just thought it was a two day period. (I was a bit older so thought possible peri meno). Pregnancy progressed as normal.

FlowersHope all be ok.

worriedaboutittoday · 06/04/2022 15:47

Just an update in case anyone comes across this thread with future issues:

I'm being seen by epau tomorrow they're gonna do a scan, an assessment, some swabs and a bit of investigating to see if we can get to the bottom of the bleed.

Will update once we know more, fingers crossed the baby bean is safe x
