I've to get 2 extra scans at 32 weeks and 36 weeks and I'm just wondering, if baby is showing to be growing quick or bigger than they should be at that week, would they induce me ? Or does that only apply if baby is measuring small? Thank you

Hi I'm 17w and I've been told I'll have scans at 32 and 36 weeks, which is because I'm overweight. I think they'll closely monitor you hence the extra scans. If there are concerns then they'll discuss the next steps with you

I had the extra scans due to concern over a big baby. I was induced both times at 39 weeks.

My friend recently had an elective c section a week before her due date as baby was measuring big x

I was scanned for a big baby at 40 weeks and multiple 28-36 week scans for placenta previa that moved at 36 weeks. He was big, but easy natural birth. They didn't induce, as predicted 8.15 which was correct. Wouldn't worry too much.

I was scanned 35 (baby measured small), 37 (baby measured normal size), 39 (small, in line with first scan, but then they couldn't be sure baby had stopped growing- they thought the 37 one had overestimated but couldn't be sure). Induced the day after 39 weeks scan, baby born the following day weighing 5g heavier than the 39 scan (small).

Usually they get you back two weeks later to see whether the scan was a one off or whether the growth pattern is correct. So yes, if at 36 weeks they are that pattern and it’s confirmed at 38 weeks, they probably will discuss inducing you from 39 weeks if what they see is a concern.

I was scanned constantly throughout both my previous pregnancies as babies were measuring small. First induced at 39 weeks but only because she'd stopped growing (she was 6lb 2) and second I was booked for induction at 40 weeks but went over to 41 weeks as they had no beds. (He was 8lb 5) so I wouldn't worry, they try to keep baby in as long as possible. You are also in the right to refuse. I have a friend who they wanted to induce early because of a 'big baby' measuring 9lb at 36 weeks. She refused (knowing these scans can be so far off with their measurements). She had him at 40 weeks weighing 7lb 🙈

Depends on why the extra scans? My sister had extra scans for GD, she was induced at 37 weeks. Baby was actually under 6lbs but assumed to be a big baby!!

I've had extra scans for big baby
32 weeks estimated 4.1 lbs
36 estimated 6.2 lbs
38 estimated 6.15 lbs

I've got 8 days left till due date and she mentioned we will talk about induction at my next midwife appointment at 40+3
