Couldn't get NT measurement

Hi there,

I had my 12 week scan today and the sonographer couldn't get a NT measurement from baby. I now have to go back in a few weeks for the quad blood test instead.
Absolutely gutted to be honest as I was hoping to let people know but feel as though we need to wait now for about another month!

Has anyone else had this experience?

Attached a pic of the scan too 🙂

Yes I had this with my twins as they were in an awkward position and wouldn't sit still. I paid privately to have it done in the end as they give you unlimited time until they can get it verses NHS that said they were only allowed to try twice due to appointment time constraints

Can you privately afford the NIPT? The results are so much more accurate than the NT. If you are worried, it is worth it in my opinion.

I had this with DC1. She was moving too much to get an accurate measurement. I was happy to wait for the quad test as the sonographer had said that while she couldn't take the NT measurement, it looked normal sized and she couldn't see anything concerning.

I was happy to tell people as planned after the scan. If something then came up via the quad test, or at the 20 week scan, I was going to need support no matter what.

This happened to me and I was offered the quad test. What they didn't mention was that the quad test only screens for Down's syndrome, not Edwards and Pataus like the 12 week scan. Those were the two I was really concerned about so I ended up declining the quad test. Thankfully there were no markers at my 20 week scan.
