Sex drive in pregnancy - any relation to sex of the baby?

Dear MN settle a dispute for me well discussion really.

If you are always gagging for it during pregnancy does this = a boy

If you go off it completely does this = a girl

For me I go completely off sex and have 2 girls but I think it's more to do with having SPD?

Whats it like for everyone else?

oh interesting idea

there is a theory that testosterone makes you randy and women with more masculine figures are more likely to have a high sex drive

i was certainly rampant when pg with ds, still waiting for thatto happen this time round (I suspect a girl this time)

procrastinatingparent · 07/01/2008 16:10

It worked for me too.

Flibbertyjibbet · 07/01/2008 16:12

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Of course a man must have come up with this theory that testosterone = sex drive.

Me I was dead from the waist down for 9 months (er and quite a while after as well actually) and had two boys. The only kind of gagging I did while pregnant was with my head down the loo for 9 months each time. I think DP was frightened to come too close in case I puked on him.

FrannyandZooey · 07/01/2008 16:18

well the hormone testosterone IS linked with female sex drive, definitely

it's not a huge leap to wonder if increased testosterone levels while carrying a male foetus could lead to increased libido

iwouldgoouttonight · 07/01/2008 16:21

It was true for me - was gagging for it the whole pregnancy and had a boy. Think he took all my testosterone with him as since then I've not felt like it at all!

NatalieJane · 07/01/2008 16:21

While pregnant with DS1, DH would come home after work and the first thing he'd say was "not tonight love, I'm knackered" never heard it from him before or since!

While pregnant with DS2, if DH even tried to come near me I threatened to chew his willy off with my teeth, and I meant it.

So, no, the theory isn't true in my case.

Pinkchampagne · 07/01/2008 16:24

Not true for me - don't think we had sex throughout my entire pregnancy with DS2 & wasn't much more with my first one. I have two boys!

spackcat · 07/01/2008 16:32

Rampant with both!

Rampant during 1st preg - boy. Not interested 2ng preg - girl. Not interested this time either so maybe another girl?! I do partly put it down to being more tired during this and last pg so if I have a boy this time I'll have to blame it on tiredness rather than sex of baby! DH is never that interested in sex anyway when I am heavily preg (don't blame him either flinging me around when I'm nearly 4 stone heavier must be a daunting prospect!).

good2goss · 09/01/2008 11:25

Hope you dont mind me saying........but with dd I was completly off sex but with ds I was absolutly gagging for it until the day he was due! so I believe in that theory....wouldn't be surprised if a man came up with that!!

bubblejumping · 09/01/2008 11:28

I have 2 boys, and the raging horn with both. Also SPD, where there's a will, there's a way!

Dropdeadfred · 09/01/2008 11:30

I have 3 dds and always felt in the mood.

NotQuiteCockney · 09/01/2008 11:37

Theory works for me.

And yeah, testosterone is strongly related to women's sex drive.

Is there really meant to be a link between masculine figures and sex drive though? I would think one's figure had a lot more to do with your skeletal shape etc etc? Maybe it's a mix. I know estrogen is a sex-drive-killer in men.

LadyOfTheCauliFlowers · 09/01/2008 11:40

Gagging for it to the point I had to, ahem, 'service' myself daily once I got to around 4 months. DH looked like a wreck and kept being late for work.
Had boys both times.

Haylstones · 09/01/2008 11:41

Not true in my case, pregnancy alone removes any sex drive I have. Have a dd and expecting a ds and been the same both times

Kerri28 · 09/01/2008 21:47

rampant and have a dd . disappeared straight after the birth though! (the sex drive, not the baby )

BitTiredNow · 09/01/2008 21:53

with the Ds's I was SO horny, but with dd I really couldn't get enthusiastic at all.

yelnats · 09/01/2008 22:00

Have 2 dd's and went totally off it with both of them. Also had SPD so that was my excuse.
