April Fools Day for Birthday?

Hello all,

Been given 2 possibilities for csection.

Either tomorrow April first or Saturday April 2nd.

I was originally going to choose tomorrow but now have people saying how they wouldn't actively choose April Fools Day as their childs birthday if they could help it 😳

Thoughts?

Hey,

I'm having a planned c section tomorrow, and we're not worried at all about the date. I'm sure my partner is going to plan some birthday pranks every year Smile

I'd not choose to have surgery on a weekend because the outcomes if something were to go wrong just aren't as good.

I'd prioritise that over the risk of being teased about a 1st April birthday

How strange i was just talking to my mother about all the pranks I would pull etc if my baby chooses to come tomorrow as signs are looking good at the moment. Its just another day if you choose to look at it like that 😄 I wouldn't worry about it so much your little one will probably love it by the time he/she is a little older and can see the funny side

I wouldn’t choose surgery on a Saturday if I could help it….! One of my relatives has a 1 April birthday. He makes the odd joke about it, but it’s no big deal.

Hucklead · 31/03/2022 12:16

My DD is 18 tomorrow! Never been an issue (except for when my MIL didn’t believe she’d been born as she thought it was an April Fools joke 😂).

Yeah generally I would agree with this.

I don’t know how much it impacts on maternity services but generally it is understood that weekend care is not as good.

I’d go with the Friday personally as I think it’s quite nice, the 1st April makes me think of the start of spring, not April fools anyway.

Good luck!

What's wrong with April Folks day as a birthday?

It makes it easy to remember, and it could be fun, if you make it.

I agree with what the others say about surgery on a weekday being preferable.

notwhatineednow · 31/03/2022 12:18

Or April Fools Day, even

Nettletea0 · 31/03/2022 12:19

Thanks everyone!

When i asked consultant about the weekend they said no difference in care 😶 Should i be worried then??

Not had a section before!

He would say that - he’ll be on the golf course….🤣🤣

BobbleWobble1 · 31/03/2022 13:27

I wouldn't have even considered April fools until it was mentioned. I'd definitely choose a weekday for surgery over a weekend for the reasons mentioned above.

Consultant won't be in on the weekend only on call. Outcomes are worse on a weekend. Have on a Friday x

My April Fool's Day baby turns 18 tomorrow. Its never been an issue at all!
