My partner surprised me with a spa retreat for Mother's Day (booked for today) and since then we've found out in pregnant.

Had a look online and some places say it's ok in small doses and others say not at all.

Would you use the jacuzzi/steam rooms? Im 4+2.

NHS guidance says no.

Beees · 30/03/2022 08:21

No, guidance is not to use steam rooms or jacuzzi's.

Ok will avoid! Expensive swimming session for us then 😂

The danger with hot tubs is lowering blood pressure and feeling faint, so as long as you monitor how you feel you will be fine :) I've been using my sauna all through pregnancy, as do all Finnish women without any trouble, and the official advice there doesn't prohibit using a sauna, and have found no increased risk of abnormalities for the baby. As said the risk is more to you in case you feel lightheaded.

www.madeformums.com/pregnancy/are-hot-tubs-and-saunas-safe-in-pregnancy/

"The researchers say their studies suggest that pregnant women could safely sit in hot baths (up to 40C) or hot/dry saunas (up to 70C and 15% relative humidity) for up to 20 minutes, irrespective of pregnancy stage."

I think the danger is it causes your core body temperature to rise which can cause birth defects. If I was you I would sit on the side of the jacuzzi with your legs dangled in. Or if you do go in just make sure no longer than 10 mins x

I would and have, for 10 mins or less.

I used one when I was pregnant with my first many years ago when there was no guidance I was 7 weeks and I was in there a few mins, it was December and we were outside so I’d say it was 0 degrees more or less and this jacuzzi was in 39/40. Within a few mins I was about to faint! I had to quickly climb out and I sat in my bikini in December on the flagstones to cool down before I fainted! I was fine after that, baby was fine. Pregnant people are prone to fainting especially when too hot
