Hi all!

So I’ve always eaten spicy food no bother. Last night made like a Mexican hash with minced beef and spices and veg, was quite spicy!

Almost instantly I felt really bloated and had a ridiculous amount of stomach acid/gas trapped. I had stomach pains, like having an upset stomach, which lasted all night. Felt like something had really irritated. Anyone else Had this? Should I be worried?

I have the same thing and I LOVE spicy food so found it a bit of an adjustment as it was quite a sudden shift from being fine with it to having to avoid it. I don't think you should be worried. It sounds like the spice triggered heartburn and maybe some trapped wind which is a really common part of pregnancy as baby gets bigger and our organs get all squished. Deflatine is safe to take in pregnancy as is Gaviscon and other heartburn tablets like Rennies. I've found I can still have a bit of spice but have to stay fairly mild compared to what I would have usually. You have my sympathy!

I love spicy food and completely went off curry when I was pregnant. It looked and smelt so good, but as soon as I took a bite, my stomach turned!

Now I'm breastfeeding and if I have a spicy curry, DD becomes terribly irritable! Obviously she was telling me in the womb that she's not a fan of curry! 😂
