How did you feel just before labour?

Just wondering if you felt any different before labour? With DD(2yo), my waters broke during my sweep and I went in to labour 12 hours later so it wasn't spontaneous really. I'm currently 36+1 with DD2 and these last few days I've felt absolutely exhausted, I've felt a bit sicky and today I just feel 'off'. I'm absolutely wiped of energy and I've lost a bit of my plug, know this can come back though and there was no blood in it. Did anyone just feel different before labour? I can't help but have a niggling feeling that labour is near, it's been a difficult pregnancy and maybe that's swaying me because I just want it to be over, ha

Yes with my first I felt so tried and sickly all day then couldn’t get comfortable in bed that night and woke up in labour. With my second I woke up super early and bounced out of bed full of energy. I was in labour and didn’t realise until
Later that day

I felt completely normal the day before, went to bed and slept pretty well, but woke up about 5:30am with discomfort in my back and a lot of bleeding.

So short answer is no I didn't feel any different and just woke up in active labour.

Both labour's I felt odd all day, like when your coming down with a tummy bug and you a bit grim and nauseous

SickAndTiredAgain · 29/03/2022 13:49

No, completely normal. Went out for lunch at 39+6, had first contraction while walking home. No hints/signs at all that I noticed.

Thanks for the replies, mixed bunch! Will see if anything happens, would obviously prefer to get to 37 weeks but not far off. Hopefully I'm not coming down with a bug! We've had a PJ day and I had a nap whilst she was asleep, not that it has done much, feel so groggy

With all my four I had a sudden burst of energy the day before having felt absolutely knackered previously. I did random things like clean the floors by hand, wash and iron curtains, with DC4 I painted the kitchen Confused

This made me laugh, I don't think I'll have the energy to be painting my kitchen or scrubbing my floors anytime soon haha!

I felt the same as usual. I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the loo and my waters broke, about 30 mins later contractions started and I gave birth about two hours after that.

Felt totally fine, had a day out, laughed and joked with friends. Had just been to a midwife appointment and booked induction. Think maybe I relaxed knowing I had an end date in sight. Contractions started in the evening.

Same as another poster here, I feel a bit off, like I was coming down with something. My stomach definitely did a bit of a clear out, and then 12 hours or so later my waters broke. I think I noticed things like increased CM (my mucus plug came out weeks before so I was high risk for early start to labour anyway), but it started to have blood streaked tinges when I wiped the day my labour started. I knew it was coming basically. If you are 36 weeks you're still early so if you get other signs you should try tell your midwife what you're feeling. I was 34-35 weeks and I was given steriod injections as it was still early for the baby's lungs, but maybe 36 is ok. Better safe than sorry though. Good luck!

I've got a hospital appointment and scan anyway tomorrow so I'll see how I go and maybe mention it if there's anything else! I might need to be induced in a couple of weeks anyway so not much longer to wait!
