Hi all,
Just a bit confused (have messaged my midwife so waiting on a response), but I’ve recently seen people talking about ‘low PAPP-a’
We decided to pay directly for the NIPT, rather than doing the NHS Combined Screening as we felt that we’d prefer to do this.
I’ve however since seen that the NHS Combined Test measures your PAPP-a level - we mentioned to our sonographer at our 12 week scan that we’d had the NIPT and she said there was no point doing the combined as the NIPT is more accurate and there was no mention of PAPP-a.
I am now almost 21 weeks and having consultant led care anyway due to anxiety and she has arranged extra growth scans for me due to being on Citalopram. She reviewed my 20 week scan however and said everything looks great, but at this point I didn’t know about the PAPP-a test and I wish I did so that I could have asked her!
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Just concerned that if I did have low PAPP-a, then I haven’t been taking aspirin for the last 8 weeks and they won’t have checked my placenta properly at the 20 week scan (although the sonographer did have a quick look and said all looks well)
TIA!
