I had an inconclusive scan measuring 5+5. I should have been 7+4, I expected to be a little behind but not so much as that. All we saw was a yolk sac with no fetal pole etc - they said it all looked proportionate and fine but obviously it was a lot earlier than we thought it should be.

I'm booked with EPU for a rescan but I'm not sure if I should just wait til 12 weeks for that scan and see if nature takes its course before? What would you do?

I'm having the rescan tomorrow and am in nearly exactly the same position as you. I was seven weeks measuring at 5 and a half. She saw a yolk sac and 'maybe something that could be an embryo' but that was it.

I'm 9 weeks tomorrow and the wait has been torturous. My reasoning for not waiting til 12 weeks is that if it really is a MMC then it could be weeks until I miscarry and I'd rather address the problem now and then move on and try again. At 35 I don't have a lot of time to waste.

I guess it depends on how much of your time you're willing to sacrifice BUT I think knowing sooner rather than later is always better.

I would take the rescan op. Your 12 week scan might not be at 12 weeks. It could be at 13 or 14 weeks. That wait would be torture. I have been in the same position as you and even waiting 2 weeks for the rescan was really hard. I'm sorry you're going through this uncertainty.

@TheBirdintheCave good luck for tomorrow, that is literally exactly what happened yesterday with us. They didn't say they could see an embryo but when the two scanners were talking amongst themselves they kept saying "that could be" etc. Will you let me know how it goes? I'll be thinking of you. And yea I guess it is a case of it being better to know...

@Lijay1 thank you that's true, I'm not even booked with midwives yet... thank you

@greenrj I'll let you know. I'm expecting it to be confirmed as a MMC though.

@TheBirdintheCave I've read quite a few positive outcome stories over the last few hours so all my fingers are crossed for you

@greenrj I've seen a small handful of genuine cases like mine but the vast majority of successes seem to be when people aren't sure of their dates :/ Unfortunately I know mine are correct.

@TheBirdintheCave thinking of you today I hope you’re alright 💕

Thanks :) It was a MMC as I assumed unfortunately :(

@TheBirdintheCave sorry to hear that, I've been thinking of you x
