Vaping during pregnancy

Hi all,

So I'm 7 weeks pregnant and I'd say I like to vape every now and then during the day. I've been trying to stop but just seem like I can't get myself to.

Even though don't smoke cigarettes I still feel bad because I know it's not safe for the baby at all. I would like to ask if anyone else is or was in this position and managed to find a way to stop completely, what helped you? How did you stop from thinking about it? I really need some advice!

Thank you Smile

I didn't vape or smoke in pregnancy, I decided to quit so we could start trying. I had never tried before because the thought panicked me, but I really wanted a baby.

I smoked for 9 years. I had been feeling fed up with it for a while and I woke up one dat and thought, I'm not going to smoke today. Then I managed a day. Then I listened to the audiobook for Allan Carr's The Easy Way for women to Stop Smoking. It helped me understand why I smoked and once I realised my triggers I was able to stop.

I think if you are vaping you are half way there already and you absolutely can do it. It's very much a state of mind.

It's been 2 years and 7 months now!

Feels like longer than that actually but I have had a baby since then so there's been a lot of changes

Hi @AnitaLuna10 I used to vape but I quit quite a while before I got pregnant.

I was very much the same as the PP, I woke up one day and thought enough is enough and I threw my vape in the bin.

I didn't tell anyone as I didn't want the fuss about it and just cracked on. Because it wasn't there I couldn't use it and after a couple of days the cravings stopped.

My best advice is to just throw it away and stay strong keep yourself busy 😊

@AnitaLuna10 I used to smoke for years and them switched to vaping. I used to vape a LOT. The vape had become a part of my hand. I didnt stop when ttc, but I had told myself I would stop as soon as I'd get a bfp. I missed it at the beginning, but I was determined to stop because I was annoyed with myself for vaping so much, and I knew pregnancy was my only way of stopping (because it's not just about me this time) so i didnt want to miss the opportunity. At the beginning, i would think about it every day. Then eventually I stopped thinking about it. And when nausea kicked in, vaping was the last thing on my mind anyway. Good luck, you can do it 🤜🤛

I was smoking when I found out I was pregnant with my first.

The only way I managed to quit was by throwing everything smoking related out. It was easier if there was nothing in reach.

Every time you reach for it think nice things about your baby.

I smoked before I fell pregnant. I'm 8/9 weeks (unplanned so not actually sure)
My issue is, I haven't told anyone apart from my mum and best friend.
I started vaping when I found out I was pregnant, but pretty much vape a little bit around people who knew me as a smoker and just tell them it's too expensive.

I have done a lot of research and vaping of course isn't the best but smoking is way worse due to the carbon monoxide restricting oxygen. Also this is an issue with people living in heavy traffic area, the contaminated air can be just as bad for baby.

Try and cut down of course. But I know more people who have continued to smoke through their pregnancy than people who stopped. I think you'll jack in the thoughts the moment you've had a scan or get a bump.

Personally I can't wait to jack it in completely after having my early scan last week.
