I don't know how to answer this question

Expecting number three and have a boy and girl already. Constantly being asked what I'd like third to be. Feels like an odd question, almost asking me if I prefer DS or DD. Obviously love them both to bits, equally! Can't even begin to figure out how I'd have a preference. Just seems like an odd question, I'm not annoyed by it, just a bit perplexed. Can imagine being asked if you're hoping for 'X' when you have 'Y' is very annoying though!

I guess people are just saying something to make conversation 🤷🏼‍♀️

It’s a pretty common question I don’t know why you find it perplexing. If you don’t have a preference then just say ‘I don’t have a preference’. Pretty simple I think.

I find these conversations really irritating! We have 3 girls and peoples unpleasant comments when we said the third was also a girl were sometimes quite upsetting.

What is our society's fixation with having a mix of sexes? I would have hoped in your position you'd avoid some of this OP!

Ha, no @headspin10, we've mostly had lots of consternation and confusion as to why we want a third when we already have one of each. You know because males and females and two homogeneous groups and whatever sex the baby is, will mean it's an exact replica of DS or DD and not a completely separate human being with a different personality in its own right Hmm

Yeah I don't get the whole thing that having a mix of sexes is the ideal. Actually there's possibly some logistical benefits of having all the same sex, but I wouldn't say that to someone expecting a different sex to their existing children 'oh that's a shame logistically' Grin
