Hello guys, Just need a bit of reassurance as i've been using these threads throughout my abortion process. Please no judgement here, this was a difficult decision for me but the right thing to do in the situation i am in, I have been on birth control for 5 years but still fell pregnant.
On Sunday I took my first pill to get the abortion started, this was pretty straight forward and I had no side effects.
Then on monday I took the 4 pills, I started cramping and bleeding, passing blood clots, I then took the next 2 pills. I thought i passed the pregnancy as was passing large blood clots and managed to fall asleep. At 2am i was woken up by severe pain and went to the toilet and passed what i think was the pregnancy and then another clot. I took some more pain relief and went back to sleep. I then decided to go to work the next day as this was a distraction for me. I didn't feel well at all, i was feeling very sick, light headed and bleeding very heavily. I went home from work early and had some cramping but didn't think much of it. Then today (wednesday) i went to work, i was on the way to work and although i took some paracetomol and ibuprofen in the morning i was in severe pain, even worst than the pregancy. I couldn't focus on anything, I was in a lot of pain. I was then walking and felt like something needed to come out, when i went to the toilet there was a large golf ball size blood clot. After this the pain went completely and i have only been bleeding a little bit since. Anyway should i be worried that this happened 2 days after the abortion, i'm not sure if its anything to worry about but i am worried and need some advice on it if possible.

Could you ring your GP or wherever you arranged the abortion with? Or Marie Stopes? They might be able to advise if this is normal or not

Not really no it came take a little while for it all to come away. I had an abortion when I was 16 and it was the medical one. I was on the pill, it was my first every boyfriend, we only ever slept together twice Iv no idea how as my pill was supposed to be protecting me but never mind I had my abortion and I stayed in the hospital for it and was sent home later that day and I kept having contractions 3 mins apart they would stop and start and as soon as I got busy they would start and I’d have to rest and they would stop and it was 8 days after the abortion I went shopping and it started again then I felt a huge gush and there was loads of blood and a huge golf ball size rough looking thing which I now know to be the placenta. Once that had came out I called the hospital they asked me to take it in and examined me they said it was all gone now but they believe that should have came out sooner and I shouldn’t have been sent home without that coming away as it then caused a really nasty infection which I got admitted to hospital for later that night as they did my obs while I was there and my temp and heart rate were high.

So keep an eye on how your feeling but if the contractions have stopped and the bleeding is now easing it should all be out now. How many weeks were you?

Thank you for your reply @Nikki037297. I was also on contraception and have been taking the mini pill for 6 years now so was very shocked. I didn’t have the option of hospital due to covid so it was all sent in the post and I did it all at home, I was 8 weeks but they can’t be sure because I never had a scan etc, it was just off dates which aren’t always reliable due to the pill I was on. I have been bleeding quite heavy today but not as much as previously. I feel much better in myself and the pregnancy symptoms have seemed to gone so I’m hoping it all went okay. Sorry to hear you didn’t have the most positive experience. I have been feeling a bit light headed today but I’m presuming that’s just me recovering from it. I thought I would be a lot more emotional but I think I have a sense of relief which sounds awful but it’s been a pretty horrible time. Thanks for sharing your story and all of your advice, it’s helped to reassure me. I do still have some pain today but I don’t think it’s much to worry about

Oh good, and glad you’re feeling a bit better today. Always better to call and ask rather than wait too long unsure. Look after yourself Flowers

Exactly the sams happened to me. It was a miscarriage though.
Same timeline
Same golf ball thingy (i remember very well I was like what is this) and after that did not have pain and bleeding was light.
It worried me but i guess it was something pregnancy related that needed to come out.
