Harmony NIPT wait time - Fetal Medicine Centre

I’m booked to have this test done at the Fetal Medicine Centre in London. The website says results can take up to two weeks. Anyone had the test recently and know actual turnaround times?

Hi, I just wanted to say I had mine done at the birth company in London (I think they are in the same building at FMC) and I did the test on Friday and had the results on following Wed. I think they send their results to the same lab in London, so could take around the same time!

Fingers crossed that you get your results soon!

Passanotherjaffacake · 24/03/2022 06:29

Different centre but mine did take ten days. Loved the fetal meds team though, found them amazing and lovely. Really special.

ChoiceMummy · 24/03/2022 11:17

Mine was 10 days 8 years ago as they sent to USA.

LASandOtto · 24/03/2022 12:34

Hi OP,

I'd check what lab it gets sent to, as that'll give you an idea of turn around time.

I had mine done last week Friday with the Harley St Centre for Women. Test was done Friday, I was told it would take a week but they called me yesterday afternoon with the results already.

VWGolfmk2 · 24/03/2022 13:01

My results took a week to come back.
Sympathies OP, the wait and limbo is horrendous.

Marilla1966 · 24/03/2022 13:26

I had mine there 8 and. 6 years ago. Both were sent to USA and took between 7 and 10 days even though they said 2 weeks. X

Coffeeandcupcake · 24/03/2022 14:08

I had my harmony done by the fetal medicine centre in London on Friday (18th), the lady who took my bloods told me the bloods are sent every evening, including friday, and results would be 7-10 working days via email. We're on day 4 working days, so I'll let you know when results are back 😁 I was hugely impressed btw, the sonographer took great care and time with us, explaining and showing everything. She was very happy for us to take videos of the screen and recordings of the heartbeat. The wait was only about 10 mins later than my time slot and only around another 10 minutes between scan and blood test. Everyone was very professional and kind Smile

Begoniagal7 · 24/03/2022 14:43

Thanks for the replies! @Coffeeandcupcake, I had mine done there with first baby four years ago and chose them again for all of the reasons you’ve mentioned! Thought they were absolutely brilliant.

@VWGolfmk2, yes, they are sent to a lab in the UK now (previously were sent to USA) so hoping it’s a bit faster than two weeks. I’m 40 and this is baby 2 and I’m already starting to show. Would love to be able to start sharing the news if everything is okay.

All clinics doing the Harmony Test use The Doctor’s Laboratory on Wigmore St now.

Back in December 21 mine took 8 days. Had blood taken in the morning on a Thursday, back on email the following Thursday afternoon.

Porridgeislife · 24/03/2022 17:10

Wimpole not Wigmore St sorry!

Coffeeandcupcake · 26/03/2022 08:54

Update for you @Begoniagal7

We had our harmony result yesterday morning! So it was 5 working days which is pretty impressive! The result was via email and they out the page with baby's sex on (if you choose to find out) separately which I thought was really nice, as we could check they're healthy first and then look at the sex 😁

Hope that helps 🙂

Begoniagal7 · 27/03/2022 10:38

@Coffeeandcupcake: thanks for the update! I assume the smileys mean your results were alright? Five working days is fab. If the NT is okay, I will feel a bit of relief, but if I know the NIPT is okay, will be able to start sharing the news. Congrats again x

Mine was 3 days using the London based lab. With my first pregnancy it had to be sent to the US and took the full 2 weeks

Coffeeandcupcake · 27/03/2022 11:33

@Begoniagal7 yes I was very impressed with that! Smile Yes good news thank goodness! 1 in 10,000 chance for downs, pataus and edwards, and it's a little boy 😁

Coffeeandcupcake · 27/03/2022 11:34

They classed it on the letter as
'Very low risk' Smile

Begoniagal7 · 27/03/2022 12:10

@Coffeeandcupcake: fantastic, congratulations on your healthy little boy 💙

@Frenchie8690, wow, that’s very fast! My first was also sent to the US, so I’m glad it’s faster now!

@Coffeeandcupcake: was the five business days inclusive of the day of the blood draw? I’m on day 6 (inclusive-had bloods done first thing when they opened) and starting to worry! (Though I know they say technically it can take two weeks…)

OP posts:
Coffeeandcupcake · 13/04/2022 09:43

Hi @Begoniagal7 , no I didn't include the day I had my blood taken. I had my blood taken on the Friday, so I counted day 1 as Monday. I received the email the following Friday so i counted it as Mon-Fri, so 5 days. I wasn't expecting it so fast as I was also told up to 2 weeks, so don't worry! Let me know when you hear 🙂 Did you go with Fetal Medicine Centre in London in the end? 🙂

Begoniagal7 · 13/04/2022 10:24

Hi @Coffeeandcupcake, thanks so much for your reply! Yes, I did go to FMC, they were brilliant! Had my bloods done first thing Wednesday morning so today would be five business days exclusive. Our scan and the HCG/PAPPA was perfect but so keen for the reassurance of the NIPT. I’ll report back when I do get the results so others will know, too. Hope you are doing well Smile

Begoniagal7 · 13/04/2022 18:52

@Coffeeandcupcake: results are in, low risk for everything, we are so grateful!

For anyone reading this in the future, had bloods done first thing Wednesday and results posted just at the end of the day the following Weds. So seven calendar days/five working days not including day of blood draw. Thankful I don’t have to wait for results over the long bank hol weekend! So relieved and grateful.

That's great news @Begoniagal7 ! Same amount of time it was for me, so that's great 😃 Enjoy your weekend 😁

YanaBanana · 13/04/2022 21:41

Hello, I had my NIPT booked for Friday late afternoon and got the results back on following Thursday late afternoon. It was just two weeks ago so a very recent experience.
Hope this helps and fingers crossed that everything is fine
