11 weeks pregnant and bleeding

Hi I'm 11 weeks pregnant today. Yesterday was the worst day of my life. Started bleeding quite a lot. I was convinced I had lost the baby. I text my midwife who got me booked in for a emergency scan straight away. Had the scan and the baby is okay! Moving around a lot! So happy! The only thing is I am still bleeding, not as much as yesterday though. I am still quite worried but the doctor didn't seem overly concerned and has put me on bed rest for 2 weeks. Has anyone else been in a similar situation and what was the outcome? X

I'm so happy pleased to hear your bleeding has stopped! The EPAU finally called me back today. They have booked me in for a scan on Monday afternoon. I will keep you updated x

Hello @Greedy7 How are you doing? I had my scan and thankfully all is ok. I'm so relieved. I still have bleeding but my cervix is still closed 🎉 I have another scan on Saturday so making my way until then xxx

@handbagsandholidays that's amazing news!!! I'm so happy for you! I'm very good thank you. My bleeding has gone, still on bed rest for another week though. I have my scan on Friday, my mum is coming with me as baby's dad is being difficult. Again I'm so happy for you xx

Don’t panic, I had severe bleeding at 12 weeks spent the night at a & e and then had a scan the next day - all was fine. The following week the bleeding was on a completely different level to the point I was stood in a&e and the blood was just seeping through my clothes - a night in hospital and scans again all showed baby was fine but no reason for the bleed. I was put on a scan pathway to check the bleed as it became apparent I couldn’t take the dog for a walk without the bleed being triggered, which ruined my whole pregnancy experience, I lived in fear of something going wrong - don’t live like me, I really regret it now but baby is here and all is fine. All the doctor/midwife could advise me to do is take everything slow and know my limits.

I had this - it was terrifying and I was convinced that the pregnancy was over. But like you the scan showed that she was fine, and I'm now 38 weeks pregnant. I remember reading story after story on Mumsnet in the waiting room, and finding it so reassuring that other people had the same experience.

The second time it happened to me I was checked for a cervical ectropion, and told I had one on my cervix (at the 6 o'clock position - never sure why they needed me to know that!) which explained the bleeding and made me feel so much better.

Hi everyone,
I'm 9 weeks today and started bleeding about an hour ago, to say im freaking out is an understatement however reading all your positive stories has given me hope! Waiting for my GP to call me … midwife's didn't want to know and told me to call GP … not sure what they can do mind!

Hi @GAAJ04. Try and stay calm. I know exactly what you are going through.
Hopefully they will get you in for an emergency scan. If they don't push for it!
Bleeding happens to 1-5 women before 12 weeks.
How much blood is there and what colour is it? (If you don't mind me asking) x

@GAAJ04 Try not to worry as hard as it is. I'm 14wk+1 and had another gush of fresh blood last night which hasn't stopped. My only advice would be rest, keep your feet up, contact the epau and see if they will see you for a reassurance scan. As hard as it is, there is absolutely nothing you can do. Please keep us updated ♥️ keeping you in my thoughts x

They've booked me in for a scan on Tuesday thank goodness. It was bright red and almost looked like the start of a period amount, it wasn't spotting but not heavy if that makes sense, there was one small clot both nothing else. It's stopped now. Thank god for chats like this to reassure and help people stay positive x

@GAAJ04 glad they have you booked in. Take it easy this weekend and don't do any lifting is possible. Try not to worry. I know its hard. Was it just there when you wiped? xx

I have but I suspect they won't call be back until the end of the day and then it will probably be another couple of days before they book me in for a scan by which point I'll probably be either sick with fear and worry or reassured as it will have hopefully lessened. I already had a private scan booked for Saturday morning so I'm going to sit tight, cling on for that and hope/pray until then. There's not much else I can do. Just wish I knew why I was bleeding so much. It genuinely had me up in the middle of the night as I could feel the bleeding x
