Possibly pregnant after just having my baby.

So... I gave birth to my baby 5 weeks this Wednesday coming. Me and my partner did the deed a week ago and condom burst. We checked it and it looks like it's all went inside. As you can imagine I'm a bit freaked out, I know I'm jumping the gun here but I need to here if anyone has been through this and ended up pregnant and having baby? It's going to be such a close age gap if I do end up pregnant and I'm freaking out...

Are you breastfeeding? Also has your period returned after 5 weeks? Plus not sure if you will be ovulating again by then. Not an expert here but it does seem very unlikely. But the only way to know is to take a pregnancy test in a few weeks. All the best xx

Hi there, thank you so much for not being judgemental. So I'm not breastfeeding I breastfed her the first week but unfortunately couldn't continue. I havent had my first period either so I'm now hopeful after reading your comment that I may get away with it!x

Why didn’t you take the MAP?

It seems very unlikely if your periods haven't returned, but not impossible. I'd test in a week to put your mind at rest.

My periods returned at 5 weeks despite ebf (which I’ve seen you’re not) not quite as close but I was pregnant 3 months after having my daughter. My son and daughter are born almost a year apart exactly (3 days out!)

Why didn’t you take the MAP?

I have had an allergic reaction to morning after pill previously so cannot unfortunately use emergency contraception 😊

Also as much as I'm freaking out, I wouldn't choose to abort if I was to be pregnant. We have had 6 losses before my newborn so we take any pregnancy as it comes x

@Ahungrycaterpillar how was the close gap for you? And dealing with a baby and pregnancy? I know everyone copes differently just want to hear stories and any tips etc x

You can have a coil fitted up to 5 days after the mishap too? Is that an option?

I know several people who have babies less than a year apart, it's hard work, but also lovely. Try to be positive about the possibility. It's hard no matter what the gap between them

They are not so much babies anymore they are both 10 now! My oldest ones birthday is in a couple of days so they are the same age for a couples of days 🤦🏻‍♀️

It’s really not been that bad not as near as bad as I would have imagined.

@luckykitty13 hi, so I've had the coil fitted previously after a molar pregnancy and it was horrific and I personally wouldn't go on it again. If I test negative In a week I'm going to ask for the implant. We used condoms until I had decided which contraception was right for me 😊

@MuggleMadness oh yes don't I know it. I have a 10 year old son so that's a 10 year age gap between him and my baby and its been a adventure already haha x

@Ahungrycaterpillar oh lovely! See my eldest is 10, and obviously I've just had his baby sister. So it's a 10 year age gap. I am planning on having 1 more child. Just wasn't hoping to have one this soon haha
