Progressing Bishops Score

Right.

I've been doing some research about induction.

For a bit of back history I was induced at 42w with my DD1 and had a great experience so I'm not phobic about the procedure as a whole.

I am however in a different position now as my current pregnancy is not going quite to plan. Currently slowly dropping of the percentile so I've another scan in 2 weeks, where I'll be 38 weeks and if he's dropped again we'll be discussing induction.

All my previous pregnancies have gone over so I'm pretty anxious about hitting induction when I'm not ready. I've read if your bishop score is lower than 7 induction is very unlikely to work.

I obviously don't know what my score is right now but I'll be asking for a sweep after the scan if needed and my score.

I just want to know if there's anything known to progress thr score as I'd really like to avoid a c section if possible.

I have had 5 births and 4 inductions.

First was crap 42wk induction
Second was spontaneous at 10days overdue.
Third was induced at 42wks Bishop score was 8. They broke my waters and she shot out 2hrs later.

Fourth. Was allegedly nearly 9lb at 37wks so was offered an induction on my due date to avoid him being over 11lb. Like you I wanted to know the likelihood of success so I asked for a pre induction vaginal exam a few days before.
Consultant was really positive and said I was 2 or 3cm already. So went ahead with the induction 4 days later. Had the oddest MW, was strangely delighted to tell me I was more likely 1CM, then butchered up sticking a canula in.
Anyway she broke my waters, and nothing happened. I walked, bounced round the hospital. After a while they wanted to start me on the drip, so I said yes if an epidural was in first.
I had the epidural at 11pm (after waiting for 5 or 6hrs) and the drip started after. Got to 4 in 10 contractions by 2am which is what they said was established labour. He was born at 6am. So 4hrs but a lot of waiting around. My body clearly wasn't as ready. And he was only 9lb5.

Fifth was induced at 41wks. And I had soo many sweeps. I think from about 39wks I was again about 2cm and 3-4 by 41. Waters broken and born 2hrs later again like number 3.

I dont think there's much you can do, I mean I tried everything with mine to avoid induction and nothing worked BUT even with a less favourable cervix with DC4 it was still an OK birth just needed the drip to kick-start my body.

I think that it's less likely to lead to CS if you've had previous vaginal births, though I don't have evidence.

Thank you so much for all that info, gives me some info to ponder and don't feel as pessimistic about induction before term.

Scan dates has come through for 5th April with a midwife appointment the day before so I may ask her to have a look at progress so I'll have all info going into scan
