I have severe OCD and i am 8 weeks pregnant and excessively washing my hands due to the OCD. I didn't clock at the beginning but a couple of weeks ago realized about sulfates/ chemicals etc. we use on our skin potentially somewhat getting absorbed into our systems. I am now worried these chemicals from the antibac soaps have gotten into my system and harmed my baby. I mean, i wash it off right away, it's not like a moisturizer which is left on the skin? Would this help? I can wash between 10 - 30 times a day.

Please let me know if you have excessively hand washed and your baby has been okay?

Im Not a dermatologist but I would think even with that much hand washing, the chances of any of the chemicals entering your system in enough concentration to cross the placenta would be zero. I’m assuming you’re getting extra help and support, but in the meantime can you switch to some organic type products to ease the anxiety over it? All soap does remove bacteria if used properly. Best of luck to you OP.

You will not have harmed your baby. Please please seek additional help for your OCD. Speak to your midwife, doctor, psychologist. Your baby needs you to be as well as possible.
