H&M Nursing vests or bras for the early days.

I had such trouble with mastitis last time around. I think my poorly fitting bras didn't help matters. Due again next month. I don't want to spend lots on bras until my supply settles a bit. I have two H&M nursing vests and some cheapie Amazon nursing bras. Would like to get some more so I don't have to worry about washing them so often. Any recommendations? Would I get away with just using the nursing vests in the early weeks?

I would guess it depends on how large your chest is OP.

Mine is humongous so I needed a really great bra from the off - Debenhams used to do wonderful underwired ones. If you got measured in the last few weeks of pregnancy it should see you through the first wee while post partum. I found that a decent bra lasted for a long time. It’s one of the things you should spend money on if you can.

If your boobs aren’t larger than your babies head like mine were, then what your suggesting sounds good too.

I've just packed my hospital bag for the imminent arrival of DC2 and I'm only taking the H&M vests - they're great and I found them really comfy last time. But I'm small of chest, so don't need too much support, plus I didn't leak much with DC1 - not sure how they'd work if you need breast pads in there.

@Endofdaysarehere at the minute the vests do seem to provide enough support. But they mightn't once milk comes in. How many bras did you buy to see you through the early weeks? These are the type I have in mind uk.bravadodesigns.com/products/body-silk-seamless-nursing-bra

@TheBestSpoon just tried on the nursing vests with breast pads in and they are fine as using the sticky backed lansinoh ones.

I have gigantic boobs now (DS is 9 weeks old) and nothing and I mean nothing from H&M would do anything at all for me. A hair scrunchie would be more effective! If you are above a B/C cup I would go to a proper fitting. You may get bigger when milk comes in too.. I’ve gone from 34D to a 34H and even then some H cups have been too small! Also if you are bigger, look for wide straps and extra big clasps on the back. The shoulder pain is a killer! X

Also I have that body silk bra from bravado- the XL fits me cup wise but too big around the middle. They aren’t specific like 32/34/36 etc more just S/M/L. I thought it was very average and not supportive enough for me but I know other people who liked them So might work if you are smaller x

Thank you. I'll head to bravissimo and get a fitting in the next couple of weeks
