I'll pre-face by saying I know every womans body is different and it's not possible to guess what will happen, but I'm so curious to know how soon you all saw your bumps emerging? And how soon were they obvious to other people as being a small human, rather than a big lunch?

Not till after 20 weeks with my first. I had abdominal muscles then!!

pinkprettyroses · 21/03/2022 11:56

I had a bump that I could notice around 25 weeks. Nobody else could notice until about 30 weeks! I had people comment on how small I was the whole pregnancy.
Not entirely a bad thing though as it made recovery quicker.

Aspidistra1 · 21/03/2022 11:56

19/20 weeks with my first.
15/16 with my second.
Usually size 8-10.

sarahc336 · 21/03/2022 11:57

16 weeks with first but around 12 with second, I'm quite petite though so can't really hide it anywhere. Before this time it was all bloat x

Tinadecember · 21/03/2022 12:05

I can't remember with my first as it was 12 years ago but I remember going to my 20 week scan and thinking there wasn't much of a bump.

this time I started to show around 12 weeks with a prominent bump now visible at 15 weeks if I wear tight clothing. Still haven't told work so I am wearing shift dresses every day to conceal!

WorkEvent · 21/03/2022 12:08

I could see it about about 12 weeks with both of mine, but I probably just looked a bit bloated to anyone else. I would say with my first i definitely looked pregnant (like it wouldn’t have been rude to ask IYSWIM?) at about 20 weeks and was huuuuge (looked like I might be due any day!) by 28 weeks. With my second, It was about 18 weeks. Again, I was enormous by 28 weeks. I’m of average height and normal BMI but have a very short torso and quite an exaggerated lumbar curve (lordosis) even when not pregnant so a pregnant belly sticks out a lot on me!

Lubeyboobyalt · 21/03/2022 12:12

I could see it just about beginning from about 16 weeks but wasn't noticeable to anyone else until about 22 weeks

Strokethefurrywall · 21/03/2022 12:38

22 weeks with DS1, nobody else noticed until 26 weeks. Didn't go into maternity clothes until 28 weeks.
I don't remember with DS2, pretty sure I started wearing maternity clothes early as I remembered how comfortable they were!

Teaandcrumpets95 · 21/03/2022 12:54

19 weeks was my first 'pop' with a small bump, then 25 weeks had a huge pop and looked very pregnant very quickly.

Cocobeau · 21/03/2022 13:20

Oh wow, most of you have said quite a lot later than I expected to see. I am desperately in need of some new spring/summer clothing but I don't want to waste money on things that might not fit me 2/3 months. (I'm only 5+1). I'll just have to keep making do for a little longer

About 18 weeks even though it's my first baby, I’m tall and fit (good stomach muscles!). I was surprised to show so early, to be honest. I think my stomach was so flat before that it was really obvious as soon as it wasn't, if that makes sense?

Blueeyedgirl21 · 21/03/2022 13:59

About 27 weeks until people could notice

Blueeyedgirl21 · 21/03/2022 14:01

I’m fairly short with a short torso and do a lot of outdoorsy stuff so i think I had quite good abs before pregnancy and so it took a while to pop

If I were you I wouldn’t be buying much, ive bought a couple of bigger pairs of leggings, bigger underwear and a jumpsuit that’s stretchy and one size bigger for wearing to a wedding and a fancy party we were invited to

ToCaden · 21/03/2022 16:54

12 weeks ish but just looked like I'd overindulged until around 18/19 weeks. Now at 19 weeks I've just gotten my first 'you're going to be huge' and 'are you sure there's only one in there' comments.

Rrrob · 21/03/2022 17:02

25 weeks with pregnancy 1
20 weeks with pregnancy 2 (twins)
Currently 18+5 and feel huge. Still haven’t told work but it’s pretty obvious…

Sleepy86 · 21/03/2022 17:29

I was about 22 weeks before I had a small bump with DC1. I'm now 16 weeks with DC2 and so far don't have a bump, just look a little thicker round the waist. Can't wait for it to show up though, I've bought a load of maternity dresses from SHEIN (hoping they're all ok when they arrive) and I want to show a bump off in them!

Nikki037297 · 21/03/2022 17:55

If I lay flat I have a decent bump now at 11/12 weeks. It’s not visible to the outside world yet and with my last pregnancies it wasn’t too obvious until about 23 weeks

deliwoman1 · 21/03/2022 18:22

At 12 weeks I had to do my trousers up with a hairband, lol. I think it was mostly bloat, made worse by progesterone supplements. I'm short and petite (UK 6-8) with a super short torso. I'm now 25 weeks and there's not a hope in hell of hiding it!

That said, thanks to my frame I've been able to keep wearing my usual clothes - the stretchier, baggier items anyway. My partner bought me two pairs of cos trousers (high waisted, elasticated waists) back in December, and I can still just pull them up over my bump! I wouldn't invest heavily in new items just yet if I were you. I'm stubborn and hate spending on things that won't last too. I've even been putting off buying new bras despite going from a B to an E!

Isonthecase · 21/03/2022 19:11

I think probably 20 something weeks with my first, sooner with my second, and I got a bump at 16 weeks with my third but it's still not obvious and much worse in the evening. I did get a LOT of bloating around 6 weeks which looked like a bump but went down a couple of weeks later.

Spottybutterfly · 21/03/2022 19:43

I lost 2.5 stone from August to August for my wedding. Then got pregnant 3 months later.

I noticed my waist thickening from week 8. I'm currently wearing trousers from before I lost weight bit I think anyone who doesn't know I'm pregnant will just think I'm getting fat again.

People who know I'm pregnant recognise the bump when I have tight clothes on.

thunderonlyhappenswhenits · 21/03/2022 20:04

17 weeks with my ds. I was tiny and really slim back then so it was very noticeable straight away

SouperNoodle · 21/03/2022 20:09

With my 1st, my bump appeared when I was about 14 weeks.
With my 2nd, my bump appeared the second DH pulled out 😂

Omgwhatthehell · 21/03/2022 20:11

DH asked me around week 18 when I would look 'big'. Then I started to show around a week later.
This is out first baby. I'm 21+3 now and have definitely popped.

closingtime101 · 21/03/2022 20:56

It varies so much!! I started to get a little bump at 11 weeks (probably only noticeable to people who know me very well) and I'm now 20 with a bump that feels huge already! I'm petite (5"3), slim (well... I WAS), and everything is just so apparent on a smaller frame.

123feraverto · 21/03/2022 21:50

With my first 14 weeks
Second , my mum could tell at 7weeks by 9 I definitely had a visible bump
