Second child and bump is huge!!

Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone else is in the same boat as I need a bit of reassurance...

So with DD I basically started to get a bump around 24 weeks, but I put on 3 stone in the whole pregnancy (2 of which was in the last 10 weeks). This was mainly due to a house move and an Ofsted at work - both were hugely stressful.

Fast forward to bump no.2. I'm only 18+5 and my BUMP IS HUGE!! Is this what other people have experienced in second pregnancies? I'm also concerned because I am adamant on not putting too much weight on this time - I found it impossible to walk and do simple tasks last time, and this time around I'll have a toddler along with a new born so really need to be able to actually move about.

I guess I'm looking for some reassurance that even though I'm looking a lot bigger a lot sooner this time round, it doesn't mean I'll put on the same amount of weight. Xxx

Have you had a scan yet? Is it definitely one baby?

With my Son I hadn't put much weight on by the time I had him. I had HG and lost nearly 2 stone in the first two trimesters. I put that back on plus a couple of pounds in the last trimester.
I did have a hard, round stomach but a lot of people didn't even realise I was pregnant. He was born 6lbs 8oz.

I'm 23 weeks pregnant with my second and I'm huge! I'm already bigger than I was at 39 weeks with my Son when I gave birth. I'm having a Girl this time, not sure if that makes any difference.

I think it is normal to get bigger faster with your second as your body essentially knows what it's doing and the muscles etc have already been stretched if that makes sense

I put on weight with DC1 and was determined not to do the same with DC2. I was nauseous with DC2 pregnancy so wasn’t much into food (although dark chocolate wasn’t a problem).

DC2 bump was huge (as was DC2) but I didn’t put on weight, I even managed to get back into my jeans after 10 days.

Normal. Your stomach muscles will be a lot weaker and won’t hold the bump in.

I’m 13 weeks pregnant with DC2 and have a noticeable bump already that I’m struggling to hide! I didn’t really have a bump with DC1 until later. Completely normal I think.

Thanks everyone for your replies! @LightSpeeds yes I had a scan at 12 weeks and it was the first thing I asked (is there just 1) 😂 and thankfully there is!

I was beginning to panic that this was the start of a 3-4 stone weight gain. Really hope it isn't as I know it'll be so hard to lose this time around. Xxx

I think a lot of first pregnancies are tiny and subsequent ones bigger due to previous 'stretching'.

I was huge on my 4th (viable) pregnancy and it was twins. ShockShock
