34+2 and feeling rough :-(

This is my first pregnancy, and up until now it’s been pretty uneventful (bar terrible constipation the whole way through and heartburn from about week 16 onwards) I’ve been really active the whole time, I ran 5k on Monday and hiked 10k on Wednesday. Apart from struggling mentally with pregnancy I think I’ve done pretty well until now. I’ve felt so unwell all day ☹️

I don’t know if it’s a coincidence but I had to properly sprint for a train last night - they changed the bloody platform as the train was pulling in so I had to sprint up a flight of stairs, over the bridge and down the platform ☹️ I got on the train and my lower back started spasming, and I felt really nauseous when I got home. At 1am I started vomiting, and I barely slept. Today, I’ve felt terrible all day and have barely left the sofa. I’ve not eaten much, my bump has felt tight on/off and I keep feeling like I need a bowel movement even though I’ve been twice today (weird for someone who’s only been going once a week since august pretty much!) baby movements seem normal.

I don’t think it’s food poisoning because I didn’t eat anything yesterday that other people didn’t. Could that stupid train sprint have made me feel this rough?! The trains were screwed and if I’d missed it I’d have been stuck there for another 45 mins ☹️ can anyone more experienced in this than me advise? I’m reluctant to call triage because I called them Tuesday after I saw twinkly lights in front of my eyes and felt nauseous randomly. I was fine, they thought perhaps I’d not eaten enough.

Have the tightenings eased of or are they still regular and more frequent?

Honestly, I'd call maternity triage again. You've done an awful lot of quite intense exercise and it sounds like your twinkly eye lights could be related given that they happened the day after a 5K run and now you're feeling really rough after a station sprint. The worst that can happen is that they send you home to rest because there's nothing wrong.

Take care of yourself Thanks

WorryMcGee · 18/03/2022 21:00

@mindfulmotherhood they aren’t increasing. Kind of same frequency all day. Could it be Braxton Hicks? I don’t think I’ve had anything like this before. They don’t feel like period pain.

@SpaghettiNotCourgetti thank you 🙂 honestly the 5k run was more of a jog, I was chatting to my husband the whole way round and I’m a runner normally so it wasn’t out of the ordinary. Same with the walk, it wasn’t intense. The train WAS though, I ran as fast as I possibly could ☹️ I probably should have said this but when I called about the lights they asked me to come in as my mum had pre-eclampsia with me and I’m 36. They did blood tests, urine and blood pressure - all came back normal.

Are the tightenings painful?

ocd6 · 18/03/2022 21:16

I'd call triage and see if they can hook you up to the monitor for your peace of mind. Have you still managed to drink enough water today? Dehydration can cause tightenings.

Peasandcabbage · 18/03/2022 21:16

Call them. Honestly, call them. That's why we have this system, this is your baby, you do not feel right.

If you had a routine scan Tuesday, and felt unwell today Friday would you feel differently?

Hope you are ok and get checked over.

WorryMcGee · 18/03/2022 21:35

Thanks everyone, you’re right - I do need to call them. And drink more water as I probably am dehydrated from being sick. Really appreciate the advice Flowers

Pregnancy is so so tough and I am never doing this again….
