I bought a waterproof cot mattress, I’d definitely recommend if you haven’t bought already. I like the Gro ones, they seem pretty big and I only realised DS had grown out of it because of the arm holes. DS is long(!) and it was never too small
I’m the length.

You can get 0-3 months ones, we had this one for DD which she actually fitted in even though she was tiny (neck hole was small enough, it's important they can't wriggle it over their face).

The grobag and love2dream swaddles are really good when they are tiny and are also not massive in the same way as a 0-6 sleepbag. We moved into a sleepbag at about 3 months. My LO loved this one: lovetodream.co.uk/products/swaddle-up-original-1-0-tog-grey.html

I got my mattress protector from John Lewis.

Another vote for Grobags. The Grobag Snuggle can be used from 7lb.

This post has got the minimum weights of all the main baby sleeping bag brands.

I got Silentnight waterproof mattress protectors from Amazon but DS had a cot bed. We got the smaller Grobags suitable from 7lb.
