Kicks?

I'm 21+1 today. It's my first. Since 16/17 weeks I've had little bubbles that could be movement or could be my womb twitching due to expansion or gas or the likes. I've been waiting for them to get very obviously baby related before I get excited about them. In the last few weeks I've had slightly stronger ones, but nothing I can feel through my stomach with my hand. Other people I know who are 20-25 weeks seem to talk about their first kick like it was hard enough to be incredibly obvious what it was. I'm not getting this. Is this normal? I'm not sure how I'd even answer the question to my midwife of wether I can feel kicks yet.

This is my second pregnancy and started feeling the 'bubbles' and twitches you describe at around 14 weeks this time. It's only now at 19+4 that they've become obvious. So with yours starting a little later than mine, I would say that you can expect obvious kicks in the next couple of weeks! Smile

Thanks. I feel like it should be really obvious! Everyone talks about their first kick, rather than a fade in of wondering if you have gas or not 😅

With my first i didn't feel her til between 22 and 24 weeks so try not to worry. Im sure you baby will soon be showing you what they can do with their tiny selves :)

Do you know where your placenta is? I felt my first kick yesterday at 19+1. Until then I'd only felt tiny little things that I couldn't honestly decide if they were baby or body. I have an anterior placenta which will muffle all movements. I think I got incredibly lucky yesterday where he got into a position to kick outside of the placenta - it was a very obvious kick, could be felt by hand, no mistaking it - and now seems to be hiding behind the placenta again! So for me, yes, the first kick was super obvious - but only because of my anterior placenta that has been muffling any other movements I might have felt.

My placenta is to the back, so not in any position to muffel movement. I think I do feel something, but it's been more fluttering for a few weeks with the odd flicking feeling from inside thrown in!

This is my second and bang on 16 weeks I felt real kicks, it was several hours worth, and I could feel it on the other side of the skin. it's been 3 days and nothing since, so now i'm scared and wish it had just been flutters. Scan on monday anyway, so just gotta wait it out. As others said to the OP, if you have anterior placenta you might not feel them for a while, I dont really remember feeling much with my first.
