Iv been feeling dreadful all week very very tired, napping 2-3 times a day, sleeping 12 hours at night waking up still exhausted. I had my bloods took yesterday form the midwife and I got a text saying my iron is very low and there is a prescription at the pharmacy for me of high dose folic acid 5mg which is 10times the amount Iv been on at 400micrograms and also iron tablets. I’m
Worried that if my iron is this low already at just 11 weeks how much worse would it get as baby grows? How long will it take for me to feel better once my I start taking the tablets?
Has anyone had low iron this early on and everything turned out ok before the end of the pregnancy?

How low was it?

I also have low iron i am 10w (level was at 18 and the ideal range starts at 30 to the hundreds from what the doc told me)... i knew i had it because i wasnt able to get it back up after giving birth and blood loss last year. All my blood test keep showing low iron.

Anyway my gynaecologist told me it s fine. I need to take supplements and eat iron rich foods. And at 28 week he will give me an iron injection? Infusion? Cant remember to basically have the iron up and ready for birth.

But i was told not to worry too much for now...

I’m not sure I have a voice mail to call my midwife or discuss so I will ask when I call. I did have an iron infusion in my last pregnancy but I was 30ish weeks and my iron started to go low at about 20ish weeks which they said is common baby is bigger growing fast and taking alot of stuff it needs. But never had it this early but I feel awful Iv fell asleep 3 times today already
