Sudden reduced movement- 22 weeks

Hi all,

I believe it may be slightly too early. I know you need to start tracking at least 24-26 weeks. I am 23 weeks on Monday next week and today is the first day I have suddenly noticed reduced movement since last night.
Usually I feel 'swooping' movements as baby is moving from side to side or kicks in my lower abdomen. I have felt just a couple today like 1 or 2 at lunch time. I'm really worried something is up with baby.

I rang the triage maternity line earlier and all they told me was it's still too early Sad I've been offered also to ring my gp or midwife tomorrow and ask for them to hook me up to a machine to check baby is ok.

Is it normal to have some 'quiet' days at 22 weeks?

No expertise here, OP, but yes, it would be good for this to be checked out promptly. Would be tempted to call the line back now and say you are worried given your usual pattern.

I usually work from Home every day where I am quite relaxed. Past 2 days I have had to go into the office and the drive there and back is 40 mins each way and all over I'm quite achy as I just want my front room and laptop! I have been having to concentrate a lot more. I am wondering if it was my sudden change of routine ?

I was told to wait until 24 hours had passed, if no movement at that point then to go in.

The baby can be turned and kicking towards your back in which case you won't feel it.

However, If you are really concerned id ask to be seen.

Have you tried a can of Coke and then lying down to relax?

X

At my hospital the protocol was if you were under 24 week, a midwife should come and listen to the heart beat within 3 days. After 24 weeks you were seen the same day for a listen. After 28 weeks you were seen within 2 hours for full monitoring. Sadly all they can do is tell you whether a heart beat is or ain't present at this stage, so if baby is still moving that's good - it's really normal for them to not have a pattern at 22 weeks. I'm sure it will be better over the next few days!

Thank you!

I have rang my GP after I read @Equalbutdifferent comment and was seen straight away. Found her heartbeat 💓 but been told to keep and eye for a week.

Hi just a little note that may make you feel better. I am 27+5 and have worked from home since November, yesterday I was in the office and busy chatting and working and then felt like I had reduced movements and went to triage last night. Whilst it is always best to get checked I think when your busier or in a more bustling setting than usual you don’t notice the movement as much. It’s such a worry though isn’t it movements make me so so anxious.

Sorry forget to say baby is completely fine he kicked around 60 times in the 2 hours I was on the monitoring machine

That's good news! My GP just connected me to a heartbeat detector machine I think because I am only 22 weeks (23 weeks Monday) and all seemed fine with hers x
