Covid positive at 33 weeks (double jabbed)

So I've been working forward facing as a key worker the whole pandemic, in the 2 years I served the general public, watched staff around me drop like flies with the virus. I missed out and didn't catch it, thought I was weirdly immune.

Well NO, 2 days before I'm due to go on maternity leave I've tested positive today. I woke up Monday with a sore throat, tested and was negative. Tested again today as I've got a rather rough cough and I'm bloody positive. Had to sort work, had to ring maternity triage and they've given me a oxygen finger monitor to test my levels daily. Midwife has told me to rest and test on day 5 and 6.

I'm 34 weeks on Friday, I'm double jabbed. Haven't had the booster yet as I was planning on having it on maternity leave. Mainly incase I take poorly with the vaccine. Has anyone had covid in their third trimester and been okay? Baby girl has been moving fine so I'm not worried about that. I just feel a bit crap, just with cold symptoms

I had it when I was around 36weeks (double jabbed + booster) and was given the oxygen finger monitor like you. I had a cough and that was it really, I was a bit tired that could have been the pregnancy. I tested negative on day 10. DS was born at 39+6 perfectly healthy and there were no lasting issues for me either.

@Snoringmonkey that's so reassuring to read, thank you! I rarely get coughs so that's was my dead give away now I look back in hindsight. Sick of peeing myself a little when I'm coughing😂 but the cough is just only symptom at the minute. So totally relate to how you felt. Glad everything was okay and congratulations on your little boy🥰

Just recovered now and am in my 3rd trimester. Feel totally fine, was much more mild than most of the colds my son brings back from nursery!

missrainbowbaby · 16/03/2022 18:44

@Dryshampooandcoffee yes! That's exactly what I thought, like I've had worse colds than this. But I don't want to jinx it, but I do feel fine. Other than the rough cough. Don't feel sweaty, cold, my nose is a bit stuffy, but nothing bad. I just feel a bit crap but nothing that can't be managed.

I text my midwife also to say I was positive as I see her Monday coming and she's just told me she's tested positive yesterday. So i think covid is doing the rounds again

@missrainbowbaby hahah I totally forgot about the peeing every time I coughed!! That was definitely the worst part of having covid.

Thank you! Hope you recover soon and good luck with the birth of your little girl Smile

I have it too currently but I'm only 14 weeks and omg I feel so rough! Started with a sore throat last Friday, was negative on LFT, cough started about Sunday, yesterday woke up no sore throat but a high temp, cough has been horrendous and so far I still have high temp, sore throat is back, coughing constantly and really chesty, snotty, aches and chills! Spent all day in bed today, planning similar tomorrow, hope you feel better soon!

nikkispeaks · 16/03/2022 21:03

Im 30 weeks pregnant and on day 4 of having covid. Blocked sinus's, barking cough and throat like glass. Babys moving fine, i have no worries there. I'm hoping tomorrow i feel a bit better x

missrainbowbaby · 16/03/2022 21:22

@EllieJai44 I'm sorry you're feeling that awful🥺 14 weeks is such a tricky stage as well because you're in and out of the limbo of feeling crappy still/normal. Sending you love and hope you feel better soon x

@nikkispeaks I relate to the barking cough. Thankfully I haven't been coughing during the night so I've been getting sleep. So reassuring reading all you ladies in the same boat. I was actually really scared when I took the test and it showed positive x

I’m 36 weeks and suspect I’ll text positive by tomorrow as have a case of covid at home and starting to get sore throat and cough which I never do. I’m glad everyone sounding ok

missrainbowbaby · 17/03/2022 09:25

@GestationalDiabetes definitely sounds like now mine started. Tested negative on Monday, positive yesterday. But so glad people in the same boat and are feeling okay as they can because i really did panic

Yes I got it around 34 weeks, I’ve managed to avoid it throughout this whole pandemic and then bam got it from my baby shower! I was really ill for about two days then I got over the worst of it and was much better in about a week. No adverse affects to baby at all

missrainbowbaby · 17/03/2022 23:11

@lolabeex how annoying! I worked the whole pandemic, everyone around me it seemed got the virus. I was due to finish work tomorrow for maternity leave and I was leaving a bit earlier as I'm being induced and didn't want to risk catching it, so this is ironic that I have it😂 I've felt a bit more stuffy nosed today and just tired. My partner has now tested positive also. But glad to hear everyone saying no affects on baby. Baby girl has been moving normally as well which has bought me comfort because my anxiety with this pregnancy is through the roof anyway so that would be the last thing I wanted. Trying to stay calm as I can
