Early scan showing less than I expected.

Hi there. Would love some advice, I went for an early scan yesterday thinking I would be 6 weeks. The lady said I look around 5 weeks 3 or 4 days. This is the first time I’ve been pregnant naturally as I’ve always had IVF which sadly always ended in miscarriage. I took a clear blue last Tuesday that said 3+ meaning 5 so surely a week later I should be 6? Sorry having a slight panic with my history!

That sounds fine OP. Only about 3 days out which is well within the accuracy range of the test.

Early scans can be hard to date sometimes as everything's just so small. That's why they do a dating scan at 12 weeks as things are more clear by then.

With my first, I thought I should be over 6 weeks but an early scan dated me as 5 weeks and 5 days which worried me, by the time my 12 week scan came around, baby was measuring just fine but still a week behind.

Then again with my second, I actually thought I should be 7 weeks when I had an early scan but they couldn't find the heartbeat and sac looked smaller than 7 weeks so I assumed the worst. But a week later, baby was there measuring at 8 weeks.
Don't panic too much, things are sometimes just inaccurate at this early stage.

Sounds perfectly normal. From what you describe nothing to worry about.
Measurements are +/- 5 days in early scans. That's the margin of error due to how small it all is.

looking for some advice or past experiences. Im currently 6 weeks pregnant after a 5day embryo transfer. Went for an early scan but was measuring a few days less than I should have been. Sac and embryo were both seen but no heartbeat.

The clinic wasnt very reassuring and told me to test again in two weeks and book another scan if still BFP….

could I have had a miscarriage and not know due to IVF meds?
