Where did my labour go?!

Hello,

I’ve had signs of labour for weeks (strong and constant braxton hicks, losing bits of plug regularly) I had a sweep on Friday, the midwife said everything looked good - I was already 2-3cm with bulging waters and a soft cervix. Had some cramping and a little bit of blood mixed in with discharge, maybe the odd contraction (or what felt like it through the night) roll on 24 hrs later and nothing…

Went for a long walk, bounced on my ball and finally DH and I had sex. I instantly lost what looked like a mucus plug (no blood) and within a few minutes painful contractions started about 2-3 mins apart for an hour. Decided to lie down for half n hour and get some sleep if I could as was exhausted - I go a broken hour, woke up went for a wee, had another contraction… managed to fall asleep and now 2 hours later… nothing all gone…am having the most horrendous night sweats though!

Where did my labour go?! Desperate to get this baby out and now worried my body just won’t do it.

Have you rung the labour ward or antenatal triage to see if they can check you over?

hashbrownsandwich · 13/03/2022 14:28

I think you should call the maternity unit and explain the situation. Are you feeling the baby move still?

GeneLovesJezebel · 13/03/2022 14:29

Keep moving !
Go for a walk, but not too far from home.

Have you eaten recently?

Survivingmy3yearold · 13/03/2022 14:34

I had this happen lots with my second, it's called prodromal labour, it's a promising sign that your body is preparing, although I remember how frustrating it was at the time. When I finally went into labour for real I didn't believe it was happening and was expecting it to all stop again. Losing your mucus plug is another good sign but it could still be a while. Try and keep relaxed and gently active and doing nice things like you have been Smile And of course, if you have any concerns then call and asked to be checked. Good luck, I hope you don't have to wait much longer Thanks

@PastMyBestBeforeDate @hashbrownsandwich Haven’t rung triage but may be a good idea! Baby has been moving fine today.

@AwkwardPaws27 have eaten - absolutly nothing wrong with my appetite unfortunately 😂

@Survivingmy3yearold thanks! I’ve just googled it and does sound like that, so frustrating - especially as the midwife at the sweep said ‘I would be surprised if you lasted the weekend’ had a few painless tightening and twinges today but other then that nothing :(

Good to hear the movements are usual.

My first 2 children both arrived after having a hot Nando's (which I don't normally have any other time) so that's my only input I can give you Grin
