Eczema during pregnancy

I had chronic eczema as a child and seemed to out grow it and had no issues for many years. 3 years ago when I was pregnant with my firstborn I had a big flare up on my hands, and had really bad eczema all up my fingers. I was told by midwife it can flare up during pregnancy but that it would go away after. It never did and I've suffered with my fingers ever since. Well, I'm pregnant again and it's gotten so much worse. It's not just on my fingers like it has been since my first pregnancy but in the last few weeks I've had it all over my fingers, hand, wrist, up my arm and on my forehead. I'm obviously so worried that what happened last time has happened again and that it won't go away. I just find it so odd that I had nearly two decades in the clear from it and both pregnancies have caused it to come back and so aggressively. Has anyone had this happen during pregnancy?

I never had it as a child but when I was pregnant I had it really bad on my hands to the point they would bread if I bent my fingers. Its got a bit better 6 years later but still sometimes get it badly. I also got vitiligo whilst pregnant I think it was the stress as I was under a lot due to my now ex . So that didn't help but pregnancy does strange things to our bodied

Hi, I suffered with this extremely badly with my first child. I literally looked like I had been burned in a fire for the whole 9 months. I suffered a little with it when I was a child. I was so surprised how badly I suffered while pregnant. It was horrific and nothing the doctors gave me helped at all. People made fun of me and spoke badly about me. I literally wanted to die. As soon as my daughter was born it started to settle and when she was around 6 months it was gone. This was 13 years ago and to my shock I have never even had a patch since. Pregnant with two boys after and nothing. I'm sorry this has happened to you. It is truly so uncomfortable.

Hi all! Sorry to revive an old thread but @Yebs you are definitely not alone! I’m 9 weeks pregnant and in the same boat, after having great skin for years (maybe a few small flare ups here and there) I now look like a burns victim with a rash on around 70% of my body 😥.

Can I ask what the advice from your doctors were? My doctor has just prescribed me Betnovate which is very potent so I’m a bit nervous of using it but I really have run out of options at this point. Have any of you used steroids during pregnancy?

Just been searching for advice through here myself (although old thread I know) similar situation to the burn looking wide spread eczema. Got so bad last weekend I ended up in minor injuries with weepy and crusty skin (11 weeks pregnant) the dr prescribed me prednisolone steroid tablets and reassured me they are well taken and prescribed for many women during pregnancy. Good luck all and if between when commenting on this thread and having your babies, you found anything that relieved it, please do let me know!! ♥️
