High blood pressure....for a couple of days?

Hi

I’m 33+4 with baby number 4. I had late onset pre-eclampsia with my first baby then nothing with the second and third. This one I am 10 years later, and being told I am higher risk due to being older and it being IVF.

On Tuesday I felt a bit off and my BP at home was ranging in the 140s/90s. My usual is 120/70s. That evening it was similar at the maternity assessment unit (low 140s/90s by then), but no protein in urine etc.

So they decided to leave it for now and asked me to check my BP and urine twice a day.

The following day it was around 139/89. However since then it seems to have stabilised to the 130s/80s.

So now I am wondering if those couple of days were just a one off episode or whether this is the beginnings of hypertension/pre-e. Did it start like that for you?

Thanks

Im 34 weeks and the opposite to you. I usually have very high blood pressure that I need medication for.
Since being pregnant my blood pressure has been so low that I could come off of everything. I’m at risk of preeclampsia so check my blood pressure and urine 3 times a week and if the levels are high or vary then I check again the next day.
They will monitor you to make sure you and the baby are okay. I was told that your blood pressure usually dips and then rises again at the end of pregnancy so it could be a one off or it could be rising slightly. Did they give you a blood pressure machine to keep at home?
If not just keep an eye on how you’re feeling and go from there.

I didn’t have the PE history you did, but in two of my three of my pregnancies at my midwife appointment around 36 weeks my blood pressure was high, so much so I had to come back for it to be retaken one/two days later, when it was back to normal.

I’m fairly sure it didn’t happen at my third pregnancy.
