Hey guys I've been diagnosed with a haematoma and am freaking out. Success stories please!

I had this, had one bad bleed at 7 weeks, then nothing else and it was gone by 14 week scan.

I had fresh bleeding at 13 weeks and instantly thought the worst. Went to triage with my partner and was told that my cervix was closed and I'd get a scan to see what was going on! Baby was healthy and his heartbeat was there 🥰 They kept me in overnight due to my blood type and I had another bleed at 3am and again was told, cervix is closed. The whole time it was deemed as a threatened miscarriage and I was discharged at 2pm due to no further bleeding!

I got home and remember I needed an Anti D injection so went back home the next day, got it and they gave me another scan for reassurance. Again all was well, however, it was picked up that I had a 6cm Hematoma!

My bleeding finally stopped at 18 weeks and at my 20 week scan it was confirmed that the Hematoma had completely resolved and all was well with the placenta etc.

It was a nerve wracking time, however, I literally drunk lots of water, stopped swimming, put myself on gentle pelvic rest (as much as I could with a toddler) and no sex.

Take it easy and keep positive! I'm now away to be 31 weeks 💙

Hi,

I had a huge one at 8 weeks when I was carrying twins. Had spotting for a couple of days following a car accident and then a very large bleed. Large in that I needed IV fluids & was filling nappy sized pads in minutes for over an hour. I stayed in hospital overnight and left bleeding like I was having a period. That lasted a month & then light bleeding until 21 weeks. Scans showed it had gone at that point.

From what I gather they are quite common and mostly end in a full term pregnancy. After 21 weeks my pregnancy went smoothly.

Best of luck. I’m sure all will be well

I had one at around 8 weeks, went for a scan at EPU and babies were both fine.

Now 16 weeks and it was just reabsorbed.

I was advised to just take it easy and rest as much as possible and lots of water! They said unless the bleeding continued for more than 2 weeks not to worry.

Ending up only being a few days.

Yep, had one with DD. Sudden red bleeding at 7 weeks, hospital told me it was an early miscarriage and to go home and let things take their course, but to come back the following Monday for a rescan.

On the Monday, after a weekend of sightseeing and walking several hours a day, they told me it was a subchorionic haematoma and put me on precautionary bed rest. Confused

It had gone by 12 week scan and DD was born at 39+5 with no problems whatsoever. She's now 11.

I don't think they recommend bed rest any more.

I had one and bled on and off from 6-16 weeks. Countless scans and it was terrifying every time - but baby just turned 10 years old…

Thanks everyone. I had a big bleed at 9 weeks and since then have been continually spotting brown - went back a few days ago and it's slightly smaller but still there (I'm 11 weeks tomorrow) so I'm praying it's gone by the 12 week scan. Still bleeding brown now but they've said I just need to ride it out. It's only under 2cm at mo so hoping it's not too bad and I can get through it ok xx

hello, just want to follow up on how you are? has the bleed resolved itself?

Bridgey8 · 08/08/2022 11:29

Hi @Chichima23 thanks for reaching out. Bleeding stopped at 16 weeks and haematoma all gone! I did then have cervical ectropian which means I am prone to a bit of spotting especially if anyone goes in there for an exam. I'm 32 weeks now :) xxx

thank you @Bridgey8 ! I hope mine will go away too, thankfully the brown bleeding stopped, I'm waiting for next week's scan and trying not to move much (sitting and lying down most of the time) good luck with your pregnancy!!!
