Can someone explain to me how the gold on a thread held over your tummy determines whether a boy or a girl works. My scan says I'm having a boy, and today I decided to test the theory of the thread out. It's totally freaky but went from left to right rather than in circles which apparenly means its going to be a boy. Spooky stuff! Has anyone else done this and its been proven right?

A friend of mine did it to me when I was pregnant with my first. It said boy, girl, boy, girl, boy, girl and finally boy. Repeated it a few times and the same thing each time! I had a boy and I am now pregnant with (I have been told at the scan) a girl - rather hoping now that this is the only bit it got right, not sure I want 5 kids!! I remember at the time my friend told me she tried it on quite a few family members and it was accurate on every one - including (rather sadly) miscarriages and an abortion. It could just be a load of old tosh - I don't know, she did it with a needle and thread though and I can't remember for sure but I thought it was the other way round - back/forth for a boy, circles for a girl, but like I said I'm not sure. There may be something in it as I am quite interested in "the unexplained"(cue daft spooky music!) and I have read a lot by the author Colin Wilson in his book 'Mysteries', where he and another investigator looked into the subject of divining, not just for water but also with the use of a pedulum and found that words such as 'love' or 'sad' or 'anger' etc had specific lengths of string that the pendulum would swing at when spoken, ie the still pedulum would start swinging at ?cm for the word 'love' when spoken - very odd indeed, and who knows? Perhaps it stretches to guess your children's gender aswell. Sorry for the long post, it's just anything like this interests me quite a lot!

Sorry, just read your post again, you did say back/forth for boy! (preggobrain strikes again!)
