Cyclogest progesterone - which method

Hello,

Probably TMI question but I am 7 weeks and just been prescribed progesterone as I have had two previous losses. I am on 400mg twice a day and just wondering if its better to use them vaginally or rectally?

Any advice or tips welcome :)

Having tried both ways I’d recommend rectally. It feels really weird to begin with but you soon get used to it! I found vaginally very messy and made me quite itchy and sore after a while. I haven’t had any of those problems with rectal use, and I’ve been using them since early January.

Thank you @the3rdwatermelon I think that's what I will do as I am susceptible to thrush so don't want to mess up the pH down there if i can avoid it!

Try both and see which you get on with best :) There's less mess when using the 'back door' but (TMI) it gave me really itchy piles.

I've done both and would say rectally is better, there's less mess and thrush is less likely I believe. Vaginally, it leaks every time whereas it doesn't rectally (although you may see wax in the toilet when you poo!)

I might alternate then and give both ways a try. I am taking then for 4/5 weeks so plenty of time for experimenting haha
