hi dont worry i am 21 wks today and only felt baby move since new years day stop worry everything will be allright

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 04/01/2008 19:02

With baby being your 6th I am wondering if there is more room for baby so they are moving but you can't feel it. Not insinuating you are big, btw.

oldwomanwholivedinashoe · 04/01/2008 19:03

Don't know what to say. I felt mine move at 16 wks and 18 wks. Could you not ask to see someone over weekend. I suppose what im trying to say is that I would personnally be worried even though its probably normal not to feel at this stage.

Mitchell81 · 04/01/2008 19:03

I am in a similar position I am 21 weeks with my third child. I only felt movement just recentley and am sure it is less than the last pregnancy.

MrsDandOllie · 04/01/2008 19:04

I am pg with my 2nd at the moment. With my first I felt definite movement from about 17 weeks onwards. This time I still hadnt felt movement by my 20 week scan (which was at 21 weeks!). I had heard heart beat on doppler at MW appt before then though so wasnt TOO worried. I did wonder why I hadnt felt it earlier with the 2nd pregnancy though as that is what I heard happened too. Turned out at my scan I have an anterior placenta (at the front) which was cushioning the kicks so I couldnt feel them. Started feeling slight movement shortly after that and am now 34 weeks and getting kicked to bits all the time!!
HTH

belcantavinissima · 04/01/2008 19:04

blimey 6!!!! thats amazing!
i felt early with both my boys but with dd, my 3rd, i didnt feel anything even at 20 wweeks and when i was scanned it showed the placenta was partly blocking her ie it was in front so it was cushioning the bumps! try not to worry and hopet he scan goes well

belcantavinissima · 04/01/2008 19:05

oooh cross-posts, snap mrsdandollie!

babycarrier · 04/01/2008 19:07

Thanks

If you would prefer I am sure a midwife could some round and have a listen.

belcantavinissima · 04/01/2008 19:13

babycarrier, i have to say i didnt wait for my scan, i went to gp and asked her to listen in and the heartbeat was fine so i rested easy then til my scan, despite only having to wait a couple of days fro the scan

babycarrier · 04/01/2008 22:06

i did go hospital the other day cos i had a real bad pain it was my hernia thought it was going to explode and they did let me listen to heartbeat but that was last monday just gone .
things were ok then just no movements

I am pg with my second baby and felt movements much later than with my first. Like other posters have said, I had a scan and the placenta was on the front so cushioning the kicks.

DaisyMoo · 05/01/2008 20:58

Do you know where your placenta is positioned? If it is at the front (anterior) that this can prevent you feeling movements as much.

NorthernLurker · 05/01/2008 21:02

tbh - you have five other children - you might just be a bit busy to have noticed - and in then in the quiet times when you are concentrating on this - baby is probably asleep Good Luck with the scan - are you going to find out the sex if you can? What 'flavour' are your dcs?

babylove21 · 05/01/2008 21:46

gosh wearing your placenta at the front is more common than i realised1 mine is too.
I have felt movement from about 18 weeks but only flutterings, and to prove the placenta cushions the blow i can often see my tummy move but not feel it, spooky huh [ shock].
I'm sure the mw told me that we shouldnt count movement until is it 24 or 28 weeks ?

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 05/01/2008 21:47

Keep an eye.

babycarrier · 05/01/2008 22:43

yeh hope to find out what sex im having i will ask if they can tell where the placenta is when i go 4 scan

Hi
I am 21 weeks today and apart from really gentle flutters I haven't felt much either. I had my 20 week scan on friday and was told I have placenta anterior also (right behind my tummy) so that's why I can't feel the baby so much. I was quite relieved as all the baby books keep saying that you should feel it all the time by now! Am sure that's what you'll have too - at least these babies aren't keeping us awake at night ;-)

VictorianSqualor · 07/01/2008 15:50

The time you feel your baby move first is when your uterine wall hits your abdomen wall, and as others have said, this can be muffled if your placenta is at the front.

I'd be pleased that your uterus obviously seems to have got it's shape back last time round so is taking longer for the abdo/uterine wall to meet

babylove21 · 07/01/2008 16:51

i know it might seem a blessing that we weith anterior placentas cant feel much but at times i wish i could because its so reasurring to know all is well. surely as we get futher along we will feel more ?
