Pregnant again and want things to be so different

Evening all

I'm 8 weeks pregnant and haven't really told anyone. My last pregnancy was during the peak of the pandemic and lots of on and off restrictions, which REALLY affected my mental health. I fell into quite severe postnatal depression and it took me over a year to start feeling like myself again.

I'm over the moon about this pregnancy but I really really don't want my mental health to suffer like it did last time. I'm trying to meet up with friends and family when I can and I'm going to try and squeeze in some light exercise if my toddler lets me.

Just wondering if anyone else went through similar really, and what you other pregnant ladies do to keep yourself sane!

Me!
Was pregnant jul 19 to apr 21, lots of restrictions from fall to when i give birth. In fact everything was closed, nothing social no restaurant no activities where i was. The outdoors was the temperature of a freezer.
So I literally spent my pregnancy ordering online, watching tv and eating. Awful. Was away from family and friends.

Now 9 weeks pregnant and was looking forward to starting this pregnancy yoga class and doing more stuff (also when my DD lets me haha) but found out yesterday I have covid.

So here we go. My travel abroad planned for next week is cancelled and all my upcoming activities.

But hopefully after that I get to enjoy! I am a SAHM as well...

Was pregnant from may 2020 to Feb 2021. The thing that frustrated me the most was the lack of care as trusts were running minimum appointments. Didn’t have an in-person midwife appointment (except 5 min bloods) until gone 20 weeks which as a first time mum made me quite anxious. Also hated that my partner couldn’t be at the first few scans.

Whilst things are slightly better now (he can come to scans), there are still a lot of things that worry me like what if I test positive for covid the day before my scan or an appointment? I really don’t want to miss any appointments this time.

Yep, my first was born in June 2020, so we started the pregnancy in normal times. We totally weren't prepared or had even considered the possibility of a pandemic. I also had quite a difficult 3rd trimester where I was in and out of hospital alone, extra scans alone, midwife apps alone and then hubby had to leave soon after our baby was born. We both really struggled and have said that under no circumstances will we be forced to go through it all alone again, because we wouldn't cope. So I'm hoping they don't try to enforce any new measures or restrictions, that's probably my biggest fear for this pregnancy which is a huge change from my last one
