Round ligament pain?

Hi all,

I am 5+2 weeks with my second pregnancy and having pain on and off in my right pelvic region right on my knicker line. I am worried sick that it's an ectopic pregnancy and have a scan booked in for Friday with EPAS. I keep reading it's too early for round ligament pain but hoping it's just that! Has anyone else had similar issues? It's driving me mad!

I had exactly the same and my pregnancy was fine. Never worked out what the pain was but they did the same checks. It did take a follow up scan to be sure what was happening and where, so be prepared not to get an absolute answer.

Thanks for your message. It's so worrying isn't it?! I need an answer 😩 x

It’s too early for round ligament pain. You will have a corpus luteum cyst on the side you ovulated from (this is normal and essential to pregnancy as it provides the hormones to keep the pregnancy going) so that could be a reason for the pain. Otherwise general stretching and cramping feelings are normal in the first trimester.

Thank you. I hadn't heard of those. It's more than just general cramping 😩

I had exactly the same thing last October at 5 nearly 6 weeks worked out everything was fine and the lady who scanned me believed it was my bowels backing up causing the pain at about 7 weeks I did then suffer the worst constipation ever so it made sense. All was fine am 26 weeks now.

I had the at the same time, I was also worried about eptopic, turned out to be trapped wind, was really quite painful at one point and low down on the right, hurt bending over, I changed up my diet a bit, googling foods that cause wind in pregnancy and avoided them for a few weeks, also used Rennie's deflatine. It eased up, and am now 15 weeks. Hope all goes well with your scan.

Thank you. I am having digestion issues so could possibly be something like that

Thank you. My pain is right down in my groin in between my pubic bone and hip joint. I hope it's too low for ectopic but guess we'll find out tomorrow 😬

@sam22222 am sure it will be and they can see it on your scan tomorrow. No body warns you about the digestion and constipation do they. I was traumatised at first 😂😂😂

Annny27 · 10/03/2022 08:10

@sam22222 I am 7 weeks and was having this too (scan confirmed baby is in right place!) But it felt like shooting/muscular pains in my hip and groin. I know people say it's too early for round ligament pain but I think it was the start of hips stretching etc

My first pregnancy wasn't like this at all. Although I did have undiagnosed gallstones during my first one 🙈

Thank you. Sometimes I think they are muscular then other times I can't work it out. Literally can't wait until tomorrow

Well the scan showed two sacks! Empty at the moment but that is expected at 5 weeks and they appear to be in the correct place but I have a lot of fluid in my womb which could be a burst cyst they have said. Had my bloods taken and got to go back in 48 hours to have another blood test to see if hcg levels are rising as they should. They have warned me it could still be an ectopic pregnancy because of the fluid! 😔

Hey, any update on your situation? I'm currently going through the same pain as you were 😭
