Someone please help I'm really worried !

Fast asleep and we hear an alarm - turns out it's the carbon monoxide alarm! Turns out The gas hob was left on low since cooking dinner - so around 4-5 hrs without knowing

I googled it as my fiancé was opening windows and alarm stopped shortly after a few mins and he tried going back to bed but what I found was to call the emergency gas company so I did and they said someone will be coming out in the next hour and fiancé has said it's all done there's no need as we know what started it ! Can't explain at midnight, distressed ( probably completely irrational I know !) daughter in the house and 20 wks pregnant I'm bloody scared !i probably am over reacting but I'm also worried for all those hours breathing in gas without being aware

Anyway waiting on them to attend but anyone up that can talk me down?! X

Going by the time on your post, they should be with you now, and hopefully have reassured you. Opening windows etc was exactly the right thing to do and there should be no ill effects on you, your dd or your unborn. This is why we have these alarms. Hope you can sleep better.

Well, the alarm works, so that's good. It probably goes off at a dosage that is still safe for you, otherwise what would be the point?

But I get the extra stress when pregnant. Are you starting to feel a bit better now that you've had an hour to process what happened?

Hopefully the gasman has been, and that you have been reassured that everything is OK now, and that you are all sleeping nicely.

Of course it is possible that you have been advised to go to A&E for blood tests, or that the gasman carries an oximetre and has checked that you all have enough oxygen in your blood. I am sure that whatever the gasman advised was the right course of action - he will not have said you were all OK if he was not certain 💐

Did they switch your gas off?
I called them a few years ago as I thought I could smell gas and all they did was turn the supply off meaning I was left without heating and hot water overnight in winter until I could get someone to come and switch it back on. Considering you knew where the gas had come from I wouldn't have called them but I know I'm far too late!

I wouldn't worry at all. We had carbon monoxide alarm go off due to a faulty boiler part recently, but the threshold for the alarms is pretty low v an amount that would actually do any damage. I wouldn't have called gas people either as there isn't any fault, just a left on hob and opening a window sorted it, but hopefully you got some reassurance that way!
