Big bottle of gaviscon and a straw. Hopefully it won't last for long, as I know how bad it feels.

Dreamer30 · 08/03/2022 08:24

With my DD I had it bad all the way until birth and it killed me. I remember the doctor at time time giving me some horrible white stuff to drink that I puked up lol. Go to your gp and ask for omeprazole, it's a life saver

TashieWoo · 08/03/2022 08:34

I’m 32 weeks now and it’s awful, it’s woken me up in the night and I’ve had to go to be sick Sad.

I have rennie in the day as it’s easier when out and about, then 4 teaspoons of gaviscon before bed and that seems to help. I’ve also bought a wedge pillow on Amazon so I can sleep in a more upright position.

Omeprazole from the GP

Ruibies · 08/03/2022 09:11

Agree with PP, the only thing that's touched my heartburn is omeprazole. I was knocking back gaviscon like it was water and getting nowhere. Within a day or two of starting omeprazole I was able to sleep again. Good luck!

irishfarmer · 08/03/2022 12:15

I'm the same. Since about week 4. Is that what they give you Omeprazole? I have IBS and that's what I used to take but changed diet enough to stop taking anything about a year before conceiving. I was with the GP recently and she said as long as I could cope with gaviscon she didn't want to prescribe anything.

100% Omeprazole!!!

boymummys · 09/03/2022 08:09

Omeprazole from gp, just don't forget to take it in the morning. I've made this mistake a few times, comes back with a vengeance. But it does the job and I don't get heartburn when I remember to take it

Teaandcrumpets95 · 09/03/2022 08:10

Had it since week 16 currently 33 weeks; living off gaviscon double action mint tablets- I find these more effective than the rennies

Derbee · 09/03/2022 11:42

Also, diet changes can make a big difference. At 30 weeks I was diagnosed with GD and followed a GD diet. Heartburn completely disappeared

Dipsydoodlenoodle · 09/03/2022 22:31

I was given peptac from the midwife (like gaviscon but much cheaper). I think it formed a good half of my diet - even when in labour I was having to have peptac. I just avoided all foods that made it worse and always had heartburn stuff with me.

Firsttimetrier · 10/03/2022 18:34

I feel like I’ve karma has given me the worst acid reflux and heartburn ever. I never had any sympathy for my husband when he had it and now I’m literally dying with it. I’ve been woken up at 2am and dry heaving because it’s been so bad.

I’m coming up to 20 weeks and I really hope it subsides as I finally feel great in this pregnancy, but the heart burn is killing me.

irishfarmer · 11/03/2022 11:57

Has anyone else's acid made them sick in the night? I've been woken up a few time since being pregnant with rising sick but always made it to the loo. Last night I started choking on it and just threw up on the bed. Didn't feel like I had much choice :-/ Is this from acid?

Jupiter92 · 11/03/2022 13:23

Mine has been awful this week, I found out the culprit is cheese which has made me really sad but I have to avoid it because it’s not just heartburn, I can feel it in my throat too which makes me want to puke and be all burpy!

Firsttimetrier · 11/03/2022 14:45

@irishfarmer mine has had my dry heaving in the middle of the night. I was asleep and came out of nowhere. It’s horrible!

irishfarmer · 11/03/2022 17:05

@Jupiter92 No, not cheese!!

@Firsttimetrier it's horrible isn't it. My poor DH thought I was dying last night never saw! A little scary too
