Hi I'm 24 weeks today, my midwife has told me to start counting kicks, but I don't find right now he has a pattern most days I don't feel much at all and some times I can feel him alot. Is this normal? Is 24 weeks when tjdy start to develop the pattern? And I need to figure the pattern out? Any advice would be appreciated
thank you

The advice isn't to "count kicks" anymore, it's to get used to your baby's pattern of movements. Typically baby will have more of a pattern by 28 weeks, so can be normal at this point for it to vary day to day. If you are ever worried call your midwife or maternity unit to be checked over!

@FusciasBright21so this pattern of movement is whether baby moves more in the day or more of evening when is most active ?

Yes, my baby moves late morning, sometimes the afternoon and a lot in the evening. That's my pattern and I'm 36 weeks. I don't feel strong kicks as I have an anterior placenta but if I push with some force on my tummy, I can feel kicks around these times. I definitely don't count kicks!

Wouldn't even know where to start counting kicks.

I'm also 36 weeks pregnant, baby moves after food, and always when I go to bed, barely feel him during the day unless I'm not busy and sat down

@darlingsweetpea,thank you, and your baby sounds the same as mine, he moves for at least 30 or 40 mins in the afternoon and is quite active and he moves alot more in the evening too thays when he is very active for over an hr or maybe 2h.. does your baby have days were you don't feel him much for come of days then he's very active tjen quiet again?

@boymummys It's hard to even understand how to kick count .. the midwives tell you to KICK COUNT and establish a pattern or routine and make it sound like count kicks n that's it they never go into what you need to need to be doing as the lady above said counting kicks is out dated.
