Hi everyone, my Papp-a has come back low at 0.23- I’ve been advised to take aspirin on a night time but has anyone else had the same and everything has been ok with baby?

Thank you for reading x

I had exactly the same result for my PAPP-A!

Took my daily aspirin and got my additional growth scans and am currently cuddled up to my 10 week old. Born 7lb 7oz, no health problems whatsoever Smile

@LabRat90 thank you so much for your reply, this is what I needed to hear. Congratulations on your little one 🙂x

I have been told I have this too, unfortunately I can’t stomach the aspirin it just makes me vomit so I haven’t been able to take it. Currently 29 weeks though and all progressing well so far, bump measures fine for dates. I’ll have a growth scan at 32 weeks so I’m hopeful that’ll be ok but I feel pretty huge so not really worried at the moment…

@Hadenough21 thank you for replying, it really helps to hear things positive after stupidly Google searching 🥺x

My previous pregnancy was low at 0.41 (I think this was the threshold back then, I've heard they've lowered the number now). I had no issues, apart from slightly raised blood pressure which meant staying in hospital overnight and being put on medication. Baby was absolutely fine though, weighed a perfect 6lb 9oz and came 6 days early.

This time round my pappa levels are 0.35 and I haven't been told it's low this time but I'd like to know what the new threshold is. I've been told to take daily aspirin of an evening to help prevent the high blood pressure again so hopefully it helps🤞🏼

@CLC22 I did the same thing when I was first told and scared myself to death. But it’s a relatively new area of testing and they don’t know a huge amount about it yet, I read that something like 90% of women with low Papp-a will go on to have no issues at all from it. So try not to worry too much. I know it’s a bit scary.

I had low PAPP-A 0.27. Baby was born at 38 weeks via induction for reduced movements at 6lb 8oz so not too small ! There's a really helpful Facebook group full of stories on there x

Thank you all so much for your stories it’s really helped me stay positive x

Hello 👋🏻

Currently feeding my nearly 6 month old after low Papp-a in pregnancy. My friend had the same and her daughter is one now. I enjoyed getting the extra growth scans.

Congratulations!

GromblesofGrimbledon · 10/03/2022 03:12

Forgot to say he was 6lb 13oz and was born a few days before due date. Spontaneous labour, 8 hours on gas and air.

CLC22 · 10/03/2022 06:39

@GromblesofGrimbledon such good news to hear and congratulations 😄x

Mine was 0.22, baby arrived at 37 weeks weighing 6lb7oz

SaraKitty · 10/03/2022 08:59

Lots of posts on this if you search , Mine was incredibly low 0.23 but I had no issues. Don’t worry you will be looked after with plenty of scans x

numberthirtytwowindsorgardens · 10/03/2022 12:25

Exactly the same here - currently feeding my 9 week old (6lb14 at birth).

Don't worry 😊 it's nice to be monitored that little bit extra!

This is a bit of a delayed response.

I hope your pregnancy is going well?

I message in the hope of giving you some reassurance.
I too had a low PAPP-A score (I don't recall the score) but, it was low. Myself and my partner were both 36 at the time and this was our 3rd pregnancy, sadly we lost our 2nd early.

I remember reading research papers, reading through every mumsnet posts, asking my auntie who's a midwife what it all means. Going through a pregnancy during a pandemic is stressful enough, but hearing and not fully understanding what the score meant totally took away the experience of being pregnant.

We ended up having growth scans every 2 weeks, our midwife was concerned about our son's stomach circumference and I was measuring tiny! Our son was born 6lb and a 1/4 oz. He was perfect.

At 2 weeks old HV was concerned his head circumference had a major leap and wanted the GP to check- turns out hubby's family all have big head haha. At his next HV appointment he caught up on his weight and length.

10 weeks old Theo started rolling, 5 weeks old now and he's sitting. He is an absolute chunk! An absolute delight, so advanced and strong- way bigger and stronger than his older brother at that age!

Please enjoy your pregnancy, enjoy those kicks, take a bath- splash that belly..enjoy bonding. Go to those appointments and try not to worry. Please don't be like me crying myself to sleep. I worried myself sick...for no reason! X

I had low Papp a. No one bothered to tell me until they told me to stop taking my prescribed aspirin for the planned c section. I said what aspirin 🤷‍♀️

So I really still have no idea what it is, what issues it causes etc.

Everything is fine with our LO. Had some issues in the early weeks due to extra mucus in airways from having a c section but all cleared now thankfully.

LemonSwan · 23/06/2022 22:51

Just reading it seems to be a growth thing.

He was born 7’7 - he’s a bang on 50th percentile text book baby for everything except his legs. He had a short femur length on scans (3 percentile) but since birth many have commented on what a long baby he is 🤷‍♀️ And that’s peads and the hospital, midwives, all and sundry.

Perhaps he was switched at birth - far to beautiful to be my child so it’s not implausible 😂

CLC22 · 24/06/2022 06:53

@Ttcbabydust @LemonSwan thank you both so much for your stories, I’m currently nearly 30 weeks pregnant and my bump was measuring a week infront when the midwife measured, will be having a growth scan when I’m 32 weeks so fingers crossed everything is ok with my little girl 🤞💖 I never had this with my son which I was only pregnant with 3 years ago so was massively panicked about it all, he was born 7lb 11 a week over due so hopefully his little sister is the same 🥰 (not the week overdue tho🤣)
