First Baby - Labour Starting

I'm currently 39+4 with my first. I've read all about when to know that labour is starting including various threads on here but I'd really appreciate some advice as my symptoms are slightly different to what I've read.

I really thought that things were starting yesterday. I had lower back pain and my stomach felt really tight and uncomfortable. It felt like my stomach was contracting but there wasn't a pattern to it and wasn't really painful. The pain seemed to come from my baby moving around a lot and kicking rather than the tightness and was soothed a bit when i had a bath. The day before I'd had the tiniest spot of blood when I wiped but nothing else since but have I've had a lot of watery discharge for about a week and needing the loo a lot more.

I've woken up this morning and have mild back pain but everything else seems fine. I've felt some movement from baby but nothing like the intensity of yesterday. If the contractions were Braxton Hicks, would this make my baby move more? Would it also make her movements more painful? It was really strange because I could feel parts of her body much more than I've been able to before.

My final question is, has anyone else had this and then gone in to actual labour soon after?

Could you ring your midwife or labour ward and tell them what's going on? I wouldn't want to advise as I'm not an expert and I think it's most important to get checked out.
