Movements

Hello,

I'm 26 weeks and have been feeling movements since 18 weeks, getting into a regular pattern and very active especially in the evening. Even when busy at work or with my current children movements are strong enough to be noticeable.

Today I've been busy with swimming lessons and football clubs etc but had a chilled afternoon from about 2. I don't recall feeling movement in that time. The kids are now in bed and I'm sat on the sofa thinking at what weeks do hospital accept calls on reduced movement?

I'm also poorly with what feels like a chest infection - it's my weakness I get 2 a year so I know the signs pretty early on.

Anyone know what weeks they accept calls? Would it be from 3rd trimester?

TIA

My hospital hve a midwife unit that you can call after 20 weeks with any problems you have. Hve a look in your folder in the contact section and it should have numbers you can call.

Fleur405 · 06/03/2022 20:15

Just call them. They may well say no need to worry in this case but best to talk to a midwife especially if you’re feeling unwell. I went in to be monitored for reduced movements at 25 weeks.

Fairy45 · 06/03/2022 20:22

Thanks both. I was thinking of just phoning and checking anyway.

My midwife told me if you are worried about movement then have a sugary cold drink & lie on your left side for 30 mins and concentrate to see if you feel any movements. I was told that 10 movements within 30 mins would be fine but if your still not sure or dont feel 10 within the timeframe then ring your local hospital to get checked out.

I went in for reduce movements once but i was 33 weeks at the time.

Should say on your notes folder. But you can always phone them.
I'm sure baby is fine whenever i have busy day all the rocking inside makes it 'sleep'/be calm x

I went in at 26 weeks for rfm. Although they can't use a CTG, they checked my vitals and listened.to baby's heartbeat with a doppler. Give them a call, they really don't mind.

PurpleMoon12 · 06/03/2022 21:55

They saw me at 24 weeks and checked with a doppler, baby had just turned around!

SaraKitty · 06/03/2022 22:26

I was like this today , I had a fizzy drink and lay down and she started going crazy after about 15 mins . Pretty sure you can just rock up to the assessment unit for RFM after 24 weeks 🙏🏻

BaffledMum22 · 06/03/2022 22:30

Always better to be safe @Fairy45 - it can’t hurt to give them a call and speak to someone! Let us know how you get on! These babies like to keep us on our toes 😬🤣

PinkButtercups · 06/03/2022 22:32

Just phone. Ours always saw me. I felt movements from about 14 weeks. Even though I was so early at 16 weeks and I knew it was the case I probably couldn't feel them because baby was so tiny the doctor still wanted to check.

Hope everything is well and you get checked x

Hi so just to update you guys I phoned and they listened in and did my obs and were happy to send me home. Then this afternoon I've had a bleed and had to go back in. Movements today have been totally fine just this bleed from nowhere. But they took me into day assessment and hooked me up to the machines to check baby and I had a thorough check from Dr. I'm now back home with what feels like period cramps coupled with BH feeling generally sorry for myself. I've a growth scan in 4 weeks but they want to see me again tomorrow and potentially scan me then. Thanks for all advice.

Sorry to hear that, do you think bleed is related ? Glad they were happy to send you home.
I have reduced movement today and yest all day (well more like non existent movement), going forward a scan soon.
X

Fairy45 · 10/03/2022 22:23

Not sure. They didn't really say that today but at least they are giving me thorough care. Slightly concerned that the internal exam today has triggered something as I've not stopped having these tightenings yet 3 hours in now! Have you been allowed home or they kept you in?

Oh bless you. I'm glad they're being thorough.

The internal exam wouldn't usually be enough to put you in labour or to have started something but you never know.

Just think along the lines of they sometimes do transvaginal scans at 12 weeks sometimes. I had one and that is usually okay. They wouldn't have internally examined you if they thought they would bring labour on.

Least you're in their care now and any signs of labour they might be able to make little one hold out a bit longer x

Thank you. No of course my logical brain told me that but as I sat there getting cramps I thought maybe it had started to cause the period type pains like when you've had a smear. I think it must have been that as I've woken up fine this morning.
There was a small haematoma just above my cervix on the scan today so they've measured it but cos the baby is fine and much bigger they are happy to leave me for a couple or weeks. Thanks for all the help. They don't think the movement at weekend and the bleed are related at all.

I had a scan to get the baby checked out and he was fine- I think he was quiet because I had a very stressful event that day and a lot of crying, so i think it just made him very timid bless him.

My problems have been resolved now Grin and the baby is back to kicking loads !

I had Hematoma early in pregnancy btw, touch wood all fine now.
How are the movements now?

Fairy45 · 12/03/2022 07:46

Still feel a bit on the slower side but get spells of business. Maybe it's just a new pattern. Yea I had some with my last pregnancy but they were much earlier and huge like at 14 weeks the haematoma was bigger than the baby. At least this time round the baby is bigger. Good to know others experience these things and thanks for advice! How many weeks are you?
