Headaches from hell!!

I'm currently 12+5 weeks pregnant. I haven't had any headaches so far until last Saturday evening when the worst headache ever started and it didn't go until Monday evening. Then for the rest of the weeks I was getting headaches on and off but today I've got a reallyyyy bad one again. It literally feels like my brain is pulsing. I've been drinking lots of water as I always do so I can't be dehydrated. My blood tests from 8 weeks pg showed that my iron levels were normal too... not sure if this could have changed in the space of 4 weeks though?

Has anyone else experienced this around the 12 week mark? I was hoping to start feeling good now I'm getting into the second trimester but I feel the worst I've felt yetBlush any tips on how to get rid of the headaches too would be fab, I'm really trying not to take paracetamol much as I don't want to harm the baby

Hi! I am having the same... I wake up 3-4-5am with a splitting headache. I have been drinking extra water, but it doesn't seem to help. I have been taking paracetamol because the midwife says it's safe and the headaches are unbearable. She also mentioned checking my blood pressure (but it was fine at my booking appt so unlikely the cause).

I'm actually going to try and see an osteopath (who specifically works with pg women) because mine are one sided .. so perhaps related to neck / back misalignment. This has helped me before, definitely the relaxin we produce when preg can cause thing to move around and settle in the wrong spot.

One thing - you probably already know this (I didn't!) no nurofen, only paracetamol... I made this mistake a few times before I realised we weren't allowed. Panic ensued...

I'm 10wks btw, headaches started 2 weeks ago

I had this from the day I went into my second trimester, unfortunately nothing helped but I slept as much as possible and drank as much water as I could. For me they lasted for a month and then eased off.

Hope you feel better soon and congratulations on your pregnancy!

My midwife recommended a can of full fat Coke when I had this with pregnancy one. Actually did help!

I have hormonal migraines, so it could be because your hormones are all over the place at the moment. Have you tried the 4Head stick or the KoolnSoothe that you put on your forehead. Also I regularly go for a deep tissue/sports massage on my upper back/neck for tension and this helps with my headaches.

I had this. It’s hormonal. Doc told me it would be fine to take paracetamol and ibuprofen

I pretty much had a migraine type headache from about 6 weeks to about 22 weeks and then off and on after that (I do suffer with them generally but not that badly). The pain management team at the hospital actually said small amounts of over the counter paracetamol and codeine would be ok to help me sleep when they were really bad (just to avoid after 36 weeks so it isn't in the baby's blood stream when she was born). So if they get particularly bad ask to be referred to a specialist as they may be able to offer you options that are generally not offered/recommended in pregnancy.
