Hi guys, I’ve been using retinol on my face recently and I stupidly had no idea it wasn’t advised for use in pregnancy. I’m now panicking that I’ve done something to the baby, can anyone put my mind at rest? It’s from the brand ‘the ordinary’. I’m 31 weeks for reference and I’ve been using it for about 3 weeks!!!

Hello! Oh please don’t worry, there are SO many threads like this about food/skincare/hot baths etc and the overwhelming response is that both you and the baby will be ABSOLUTELY FINE. Pregnancy is so stressful so I’m absolutely not minimising your anxiety, it’s horrible, but you won’t have harmed your baby. Retinol isn’t advised due to Vitamin A but the amount absorbed by the skin from an OTC product won’t have caused damage.

If you’re massively concerned just let your midwife know at your next appt - I would put good money on them telling you it’s nothing! And treat yourself to some nice skincare to use once your baby is here Smile
