Resigning while on maternity leave

I am due my 2nd baby in 2 weeks. I have decided not to return to work once my maternity leave is done.

Question is if I give my notice now not to return will I still accrue my holidays and get paid for them at the end? I know I will still get my maternity pay as I am entitled to it.

You should resign near the end of your maternity leave. any sooner and you'll terminate your employment and your maternity benefits will end. What does your contract day about how long notice you have to give? eg if it's one month, give notice of resignation one month before the end of your maternity leave

4 weeks notice to give

Then you've answered your question. Give notice 4 weeks before the end of your maternity leave.

You also need to check your contract as you may need to repay maternity pay (if you get more than just statutory) if you don’t return. so instead save up your annual leave & use that to ‘work your notice’ at the end of your maternity leave and then you will have technically returned to work (as long as you have enough leave to cover the 4 week notice period).
