Best bottles for combi feeding

Hi. Posted this on the feeding board and had no response so wondered if anyone had some advice:
I’m currently pregnant with DC2. I breastfed DC1 with the occasional bottle of expressed milk using Tommee Tippee bottles. Despite not giving many bottles he still got a bottle preference quite quickly which was really stressful and ended our breastfeeding journey earlier than I had hoped at 7 months. I’m hoping to offer the occasional bottle again this time alongside breastfeeding, maybe around 1-2 a week max, but I’m wondering if to try a different brand of bottle. Which brand of bottles would be best for combi feeding and less likely to cause a preference?

Bumping this cause I'd also like to know!

I used tommee, mam, and Dr Brown, and there were no issues switching between them and breast, so I think it’s just down to the baby unfortunately! Also, it may not have been due to the bottles at all. A lot of my friends that ebf said that around 7-10 months their babies naturally rejected the breast.

I use MAM, used from about 4 weeks he’s still having both now at 9 months.

Hi, i currently have 2 week old and bf for 12 days, my milk is very low so I top up with formula.. I use Tommie tippie breast like teet ones and my baby is fine with them.. good luck xxxx

My baby (exclusively formula fed) used tommee tippee originally- but she really didn't get along with them. I tried mam, but I didn't like them (I found the formula got stuck in the nubs at the bottom). Switched to Nuk and they are perfect for us.

Lots of babies at our baby class use tommee tippee or mam.

I combi fed DD for 9 months. We used nuk bottles - you can get them from boots or amazon. We could not get on with tommee tippee as I think the flow was too different to the breast?

Mam bottles worked brilliantly for us. amzn.to/37vjngH They're easy to clean and had no problems with colic or anything with these ones. We tried TT before and they were awful

I bf DS until 2yrs he was a bottle refuser. Tommie was the only bottle he would accept but only if I wasn’t around.
When we stopped bf I had to find a cup that he would accept his bedtime milk from. Tried everything but he articulated his own choice brilliantly. He chose Tomme bottle because he said it felt like my boob when he drank from it.

Hi, I combi fed until the opposite, bottle refuser, not breast. I used mamm antireflux

I use the Lansinoh bottles which screw into a lansinoh pump. I pump directly into the bottles and then they’re in the fridge ready to go.

Baby is nearly 10 months and still using the newborn teats! He’s happily taken bottles all day at nursery from 6 months and will breastfeed directly the rest of the time.

I think baby personally can have a lot to do with it though.

Thanks for this thread! Hoping to combi feed with expressed milk too.

Anyone tried Nanobebe or Medela bottles?

Weathergirl1 · 08/04/2022 15:07

Do you do paced feeding? I didn't bottle feed from about 9 weeks as by that time we'd smoothed out the breastfeeding issues we had from birth, so my only experience of bottle feeding is with a newborn, but I was advised to pace feed so that the flow from the bottle wasn't too much. We used Medela bottles with the low flow teats and the smallest Mam bottles with the newborn teats. I actually kept those incase we needed to give a bottle again and was going to just use the slow flow teats if we'd needed to.
