Hi all, looking for some advice!

I currently hold a 2 year fixed term position at my place of employment which expires in September, which will mark the end of my training and the point at which I qualify.

I have just interviewed and been offered a permanent position to continue from my fixed term, on the conditional grounds that I qualify and join the professional register for this role. (Which I will be able to do on the 1st September)

I am due to go on maternity leave in the middle of September.. Where do I stand with regards to the permanent position?

I will meet the conditions set, as I will be able to register before I go on maternity.

Can they retract the offer, or legally is the job still mines?

Thank-you for any advice

No they cannot retract the offer because you are pregnant or taking mat leave. To do so would be illegal discrimination- assuming you are in the UK?

Thankyou for the reply. Yes I am in the UK-

My concern was that my current contract ends on the 27th September, so the new one wouldn’t begin until the 28th. I will be on maternity from the 5th… so I would be on maternity before I even start the “new contract.”

I still legally hold the offered position though, is that correct?

Yes, that's correct. I hope it all goes well OP but don't hesitate to seek legal advice if there's any hint of trouble!
